View Full Version : Problem with the output size - too small

Hello. I'm having problems with the output size of the 'Seinfeld - season 5 disc 1 (region 2)', when I tried to backup the entire disc (with no extras 'steal' space). The original disc is more then 6GB. When I do DVDSHRINK on this one, it's shrinking into reguler 4.4GB size.

With DVDRebuilder, the output folder is 2.02GB. The working directory is 1.34GB.

I use the 'Standart target size' option. I tried both 'one click mode' and the regular proccess, and also tried a different disc (not Seinfeld) - same results / strange size. I tried also the 'HC' encoder - same results..

I attached the LOG file (from the working directory) in this message. I'm using DVD Rebuilder PRO 1.08.1 , with CCE Basic 2.69.01.04.

* I would like to add, that in the 'input settings' screen, the MB for the main VTS is normal, but when I start the backup the number of the sectors is reduced by almost half, and from this point I was able to know that the output size will be smaller than usual.

I will appreciate any help,
Thank's!

Make sure you are not using one of the options that affects "extras":

Half-d1 half space for extras (not likely)
Extras reduction (not likely)

Movie and Menu only (blank extras) - (likely :))

If I'm wrong... post your Rebuilder.ini file (copy paste contents) and Rebuilder.inf (copy paste contents) - don't attach files... usually mods forget to approve them :D)

There's something wrong with your system. CCE is crashing during encodes. Usually this kind of problem is caused by overclocking. Looking at your log I can see 10's of thousands of frames that are being dropped.

You're not trying to use the Trial Version of CCE Basic are you? It won't work because it has a limit as to the number of frames it will encode.

Rockas - I already wrote that I'm not using these options.

I don't have those files anymore since I tried to do a new backup of something else, and I stop in the beginning.

Jdobbs - You say that the problem is with the CCE encoder, but I also tried the 'HC' encoder - and the result was the same. I'm not using the trial version.

Any other solution??

As I said, the problem is clearly related to your system. Whatever encoder you are using is crashing before completing the encode on a significant number of the attempts.

Are you using your computer while encoding? Another possible cause is accidentally hitting a key while the encoder is on the screen and stopping it midstream.

Other than that -- I'm not sure what to recommend... Is you system overclocked?
