Converting mp3 to ac3 using BesweetGUI, but my ac3 output is quieter than my original mp3.

How do I boost volume, where do I select it?

I am running BeSweetGUIv0.7b4 and BeSweetv1.5b31

Thank You for your assistance!

Ac3enc-BeSweet do 50% volume reduction.
Use HeadAC3he v0.24-a13 with 6 dB Global Gain. See my post in the thread "good method for wav to ac3 for a dvd-video?" (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=108753)

Works for wav or mp3 input.

Thanks tebasuna51, but I hope you dont get mad and still help, but I am still confused.

Im new at this so please bear with me.

I cannot find the version of HeadAC3he v0.24-a13, I can only find the french version and I cant read French.

Now to go over the steps in detail.

Should I run BesweetGUI normally to produce an ac3 file, and then with the ac3 produced in besweetGUI run it in headAC3he and do a +6db global?

If this is correct. How do I do a 50% volume reduction in BesweetGUI?

Don't need BeSweet for this. Open HeadAC3he and :

Left panel:
- Source File: select your mp3.
- Destination Format: AC3
- Destination File: select output filename.
- Rest unchecked.
- click in Options button.

Right panel:
- Downmix Type: 2 ch (without effect for stereo input)
- Individual input/output channels to 0 dB, No DRC (DRC always without effect)
- Global Gain 6 dB
- Low pass filter for surround: unchecked (without effect for 2 ch output)

Second Right panel (new click in Options button):
- Bitrate desired (192 recommended for 2 ch).

Is a internal issue in ac3enc.dll encoder, and you can't modify this with BeSweet (BeSweetGUI, Belight) or WaveWizard, or using ffmpeg or ffdshow to free ac3 encode.

I only know HeadAC3he with 6 dB Global Gain to get near 100% volume output using free ac3enc.dll.

Of course you can obtain 100% volume output also with commercial encoders, and with the discontinued Sonic Foundry SoftEncode. These not-free encoders can modify also others useful ac3 parameters: Dialog Normalization, Dynamic Range Compression, Mix Levels, ... and are recommended to obtain better ac3 quality.
