Hi all, I was recently encoding an episode of family guy with 2 passes in meGUI, Using the xvid encraw from berrinams guide, When I noticed that the encoding for both passes cut out at about 25.67%. It said it was trying to find the height and width. Here is the log

Strangely, this is exactly what happend to me using the same tools. After trying two differnt movies and getting these results I just gave up.

You're using an old version of xvid_encraw which has a processing limit of 9999 frames.

indeed. you cannot use updated builds with megui. it uses the really old svn version

So I can only use Mencoder for longer XVID encodes right now? That sucks! I guess I will just have to wait until the next stable version of MeGUI comes out that supports Squid_80's XVID encraw mod. Damn! Oh Well, it can't be helped.

P.S. Berrinam should mention this in his MeGUI guide with the link to XVID encraw. Just a thought.

Thanks guys for your responses. It is much appreciated.

I think the only problem with using my build is that I unwittingly changed the -bitrate parameter to kbps instead of bps. I recently made a patch that should fix this problem (unless you use a bitrate < 10kbps or > 10mbps). Try replacing your xvid_encraw.exe with this version: http://okejl.dk/dunstan/xvid_encraw_megui_test.zip

But be warned it's my current development build, contains some pretty dodgy stuff. In particular make sure the input is YV12 because unlike the original encraw it won't complain, it'll probably just crash. MeGUI should probably take care of that anyway.

Let me know of any problems and I'll see what I can do.

The 9999 limit was removed from the CVS back in Jan.

So is there a build out now that supports more than the 9999 limit, incase squid_80's build doesn't work. Because most of the XVID encraw build that I found, besides the one through Berrinam, crash as soon as MeGUI accesses them.

Celtic Druid, do you have a working build, or do you know where one can be found. Anyone know?

Thanks.

Great! Thanks alot Celtic_druid! For the sake of other people, are you going to put this up on your other mirror sites for other people? It would be a good thing to do, especially since MeGUI doesn't yet support Squid's build yet.

Thanks again man! You Rule!!!! Yahhhhh!! =)

This is a cvs build isnīt it?

celtic_druid

Yep, straight cvs build. I didn't bother including xvidcore.dll, but nothing had changed since my last build anyway.

Ok, moved the file, should get mirrored some time soonish.

especially since MeGUI doesn't yet support Squid's build yet.Did you try the test build I posted?

No, squid_80, I have not been able to. And I won't be able to for several days more. right now I am typing on a computer that is running Windows ME. On Tuesday I will be able to make it to my dad's house, and thus test everything there, as he is the only computer that I have access to that runs XP. I am sorry that I cannot report back to you sooner, but that is the way my life as a 16 year old is arranged right now.

Pretty crazy huh?

As soon as I arrive on tuesday I will download you latest test build and get testing/encoding.

P.S. Thanks for you help, Squid_80. You too Celtic Druid. You guys rule.

Squid I can say that your build works in megui! Yay! I am not sure on the speed as of yet as I am ripping a cd to mp3 right now, so It is using processing power, all though I know atleast 46 fps. Excellent job man! I never got that many fps normaly! Freakin' sweet.
