Hi.
I am really tired with experiments to discover optimal vbv params of DivX encoder to make player (Samsung HT-KD800) correctly playback my homemade DivX-video.

I use DivX 5.2.1

Player chip set based on ESS Vibratto II.
It is not DivX certified, but (from the user manual):
1. DivX files are supported only for bit stream up to 6 Mbit per second.
2. While playback disk having bitrate above than 320 KBit per second the picture can flutter.

I trying many sets of vbv params. Some files are playbacked correctly by the player but other (encoded with the same params) fluttered on TV (in some quick moments of video).

Could anybody help me with
-vbv <bitrate>,<buffer size>,<initial occupancy>
which is necessary to get DivX files compatible with my standalone?

From DivX userguide:
Bitrate is the maximum sustainable read bitrate in bits per second of the target system.
Buffer size is the size in bits of the buffer associated with the video stream of the target system.
Initial occupancy is the number of bits from the video stream assumed by the encoder to have been pre-buffered by the target system before playback begins.

Please, answer my question or show me the way.

2. While playback disk having bitrate above than 320 KBit per second the picture can flutter.
I wouldn't be very hopeful of getting this to work:
- If bitrate always stays below 320kbps you're going to have awful quality
- If bitrate goes above 320kbps, your picture will "flutter"

Keep trying different parameters, good luck!

Next time buy a certified decoder ;)

i have an Vibratto II player and it run everything, and my player is certified !
Any encode run great in he, but cant have qpel and Gmc..
My encodes are 2 passes Nero Recorde with only Video(it get 98 fps encoder rate, vs 20 in xvid and 35 in divx ) and Nero have a Good image quality ! and pysco visual rules a lot !
After i convert the Mp4 to Avi, merge the audio and burn the cd, Every cd work great !
I dont know your problem with Vibratto !

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Did you try AutoGK?

It it newbie friendly and free, it can use divx or xvid codec (I use Xvid), it is aimed for SAP (standalone players) compatibility, it has a special checkmark for ESS chipset. Only bad news is Len0x has stopped development but you will find a lot of topics in this forum (AGK or AGK development) and quite a lot of questions have already been answered.
