Hello

When I convert 2ch AC3 to 5.1ch AC3 via besweet , does the new audio file is "real" 5.1 ch, or should I search for other original 5.1ch audio file?

P.S. - Does the syntax looks OK: BeSweet.exe -core( -input "E:\1.ac3" -output "E:\1_1.ac3" -logfile "E:\1.log" ) -azid( -s stereo -g max -c normal -L -3db ) -ac3enc( -b 384 -6ch )

Thanks

The 5.1 Ac3 is a real 5.1 since it has 6 channels, but if u´re asking if the transcoding restored the original 6-channels (if there were actually 6 channels to begin with that were downmixed to 2 channels), then no. The 5.1 Ac3 is the result of a upmixing matrix that creates the missing channels according to phase and intensity values found in the different sounds within the stereo tracks.

You should change -azid(-s stereo) for -azid( -d 3/2 ), to get proper upmixing.

You can't go back into the studio and do the missing tracks.

Next best thing that I have done with plenty of DD 2.0 tracks is to use the DPL upmixing that usramtl provides. There is a sticky in this forum talking about a VST used with plogue which does an excellent job of creating 6 mono WAV files that then can be converted to DD 5.1.

Also if your amplifier does PLII then it will do a good job in creating the surround sound from DD 2.0 or Stereo. But you will never get the studio quality no matter what you use, you just get very close to it with usramtl's VST DLP upmix.
