Moderators and Forum Members Applications Data-base

Given that we have a whole host of Moderators and Forum members creating so many wonderful applications, I don't know about some of you guys but I'm often missing out on some of them :eek:

Would it be possible to form a data-base with links to the various (new) threads where these applications live?

We could make a sticky like the GUI sticky in RV forum

I beleve we need just one sticky per All applications. And users can PM moderators in order to add/update approriate software.

What about some form of Doom9 wiki? I've seen avisynth.org's new MediaWiki interface, and it is so much easier to edit that than plain html (it acts just like Wikipedia). Obviously this would take a lot of work to set up, so there's no way that I can insist that anyone does it, but it could result in more frequently updated documentation. In the end, it should also be less work for the mods, because a developer would just have to edit the wiki instead of PMing a mod.

Seem like you get me wrong. Every developer can create it's own unpinned thread about his application in appropriate forum section. Pinned thread must be just "software map" wich must contain short application description and link to application thread. Something like this:

No, I completely understood you. I was just suggesting that we could take it the whole way -- by making a wiki, we could have the advantages I said above. We could still have such a list as you described, but anyone could add their own program to the list so that the moderator didn't have to add it for them. It would also bring awareness of these programs outside the world of Doom9's forums.

Actualy I does not familiar with wiki system too much. I think BBCode is enought for such functionality.

In other case I prefer Doom9's own CVS/SVN over Wiki ;)

I think you need to understand what wiki is first:

A wiki is a type of website that allows users to add and edit content easily and is especially suited for collaborative writing.

So basically, it is like a CVS specifically for text.
