I am working in Scenarist 3 and have a video project that by all logic should not fit on a DVD however does and seems to still have 300MB of space to encode larger. Here's the setup:

VTS1:
- 3.7GB mpv file
- 440MB AC-3 5.1 audio
- 1 hour 44 minute movie
- 4:3
- NTSC

VTS2:
- 1.05GB mpv file
- 156MB AC-3 2.0 audio
- 50 minutes
- 16:9
- NTSC

So as yoiu see the video alone is over 4.7GB. Plus the 600MB of audio and 12 or 15 MB of menu assets. When it is done encoding, the .DVD file it creates for burning is smaller than the assets. I have never seen this before. Video plays OK, however this is making little sense.

Any ideas?

Problem everted. It's Stupid Scenarist. I went to the end of the video and found it was actually cut off a half hour before it should have been. Scenarist has this nasty habit of when you use a template you create, of reusing the video length of the original video that was used to create the template. Switching from data -> placeholder and back a bunch of times didn't help. Had to physically click on the duration of the movie and put a bunch of 6's in there and then it recalculated the size correctly. Of course now I need to re-encode a bit smaller, however at least it makes sense now.
