My friend has been looking for a certain film for ages and can only find it in Region 1 format... Is there a way to copy this onto another dvd in region 2?
(His dvd player is region 2 only)
Thanx

Depending on the title, he should be able to make a 1:1 copy by ripping it with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and burning it back with either DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn. That should make a region-free copy.
If it's a DVD9 (too large for a standard DVD) and he doesn't have a dual-layer burner, he can rip with DVD Decrypter in File mode and use DVD Shrink to fit it on a single disk creating an ISO image, which can then be burned region-free as mentioned above.
If it's an ARccOS-protected disk, there will be problems with the back-up - he can search here for the title to find out how to solve it.

@chardar
Hi!
Be advised that changing a Region 1 DVD to Region 2 or Region-free is only half the battle. Region 1 DVDs are in NTSC format, which is incompatible with Region 2, that is PAL format. If your friend's player is not capable of playing NTSC or converting NTSC to PAL format, he/she will not be able to play the DVD
Curious to know - what is the Title of the DVD?...

This appears to be contradictory??????
It appears that the friend has been seeking a particular "kung fu film" and can only find it in Region 1, and now wishes to convert it to Region 2 and PAL format so he can watch it on a standard player.
Now I'm curious - will a region-free NTFS format DVD play on a PC without problems? Perhaps the friend could live with watching it on the computer screen.

@CWR03
The apparent contradiction I referred to is regarding the fact that the poster knows that his/her " friend has been looking for a certain film for ages", yet when asked the title of the DVD states, "i'm not sureits some kung fu film i think."...

"i'm not sureits some kung fu film i think."...
Now I'm confused - perhaps chardar has no knowledge or memory of the film in question. If someone had asked me "Do you know how to convert a Region 1 disk to Region 2," I would have answered that I knew where to find out and would have endeavored to do so. I would not have thought to ask of the title as it would be irrelevant to the question.

i knew he was in search of a certain film but i couldn't recall the title.
Sorry for the confusion :)
I spoke to him and it turns out the film is Bat 21 (not a kung fu film at all :P )
Thanx for the help :)
