I made a svcd with fireburner from dvd2svcd with chapters. I have scratched it a bit and would like to make a copy of the svcd. I can't figure out how with fireburner and nero doesn't like it either. It give me a invalid file error when I try to disc copy. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

Anyone else had this issue? I tried cdrwin and it also says invalid file. Is the title picture/change cd picture causing this error? I was able to use the mpg from the disc to create a svcd in nero, but without chapters. :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

try discjuggler and save the image to the harddisk...it'll take extra time if it's scratched but usually can salvage it. Or blindread might work too.

I'll try, thanks for the tip!

I use CloneCD for all my tough copies. Has only let me down once.

G'Day Guys,

Can I tag onto this thread? I have a similar type question, well sort of.

I've been backing up my DVD's using DVD2SVCD and using i-Author's proggie to create the *.cif's images using EZCD4.0 to burn them. I have just begun the process in archiving these *.cif's using WinRAR and creating 63,500,000 byte RAR chunks, i.e x11 onto 700MB CD-R's and x10 onto 650MB CD-R's, successfully.

My question refers to the SVCD's I previously created. Is it possible for me to create a disk image for EZCD4.0 to use, using the same answers that mrbass (discjuggler) and markrb (CloneCD) gave to mevbo who uses fireburner?

Originally I had thought that it would have been quicker to extract the mpeg2 file and then use some kind of conversion program, that created files compatible for i-Author. Is this not so?

Why would you? If you want to back up an SVCD just make a copy of it on another cd. Sure there are 160GB drives out there but for what. All the groups, etc. they archive rar them in .bin .cue. So use cdimage beta to convert them to that from .cif and then rar them in either 15MB or 20MB chunks. Technically speaking...I believe you could use .cdi for discjuggler and it'd work but not sure you could save it in .iso and have it work with chapters, etc.

Blindwrite worked, but it's a little time consuming. To bad it doesn't support on the fly. Does Clone? I will check it out tonight. Thanks for the help everyone.;)

on-the-fly...I use discjuggler for that. Nero works too.
I wish there was an open-source alternative. cdrdao --on-the-fly option isn't supported for w32 platforms currently. I wish a hacker would do so. cdrdao development seems to have ceased since April 2001.

Mr Bass! I thankyou for your response but I must admit that I am somewhat puzzled by your response.

Firstly, am I not in the correct forum for making such a request?

Secondly, should I have commenced a new thread on a subject that was identical to my own needs?

I ask this as I thought my initial request was quite clear:

> My question refers to the SVCD's I previously created. Is it
> possible for me to create a disk image for EZCD4.0 to use,
> using the same answers that mrbass (discjuggler) and markrb
> (CloneCD) gave to mevbo who uses fireburner?

Yes I am only a newbie to all this. However, I failed too see:

i) Asking me a question 'Why would you?'
ii) What this has to do with the price of tea in China? 'Sure there
are 160GB drives out there but for what.
iii) What do you mean by groups? All the groups, etc. they archive
rar them in .bin .cue.
iv) My question was how do I create the disk image *.cif? and your
response: So use cdimage beta to convert them to that from .cif

Is it possible for me to find the answers to my original two questions in this forum?

Maybe I could have rephrased my two questions as follows:

SVCD ==> HDD ==> re author with i-Author ==> *.Cif image ==> EZCD4.0
Is it possible?

MPEG2 ==> HDD ==> re author with i-Author ==> *.Cif image ==> EZCD4.0
or is that possible?

It would be such a horrible shame to see a high quality product in DVD2SVCD, being tarnished by a moderator who shows little or no respect to the newbies.

to answer your original question. Choose I-author and the .cif it creates is compatible with Easy CD 4.x only. Feel free to rar it in whichever chunks you deem suitable to your needs.

shows little respect? Ok if that's how you felt then I apologize. This is just for fun. I never get mad and probably use too much sarcasm, etc. I apologize for being a wise ass. I would like to throw in my opinion here. DDog would jump down your throat much harsher than I do. (DDog = pitbull mrbass = fuzzy peachball)

Why would you?
I ask this because do you really feel Easy CD 4.x is going to be around 2 years from now supporting your 32X cd-burner? Only Easy CD 5.x or 6.x will. My point about groups is just to show you the popularity of the format compared to .cif which is almost non-exenstint. Look at isonews.com to verify that. Vcdxbuild and vcdimager create .cue and .bin cd images. GUI frontends include DVD2SVCD, TSCV, VCDEasy. Only i-author creates in easycd 4.x .cif cd images that I know of.

Yes...I still do recommend using cdmage to convert....
anyway this whole thread is moot pretty soon with DVD2SVCD 1.0.5 build 1 beta currently out. I-author and .cif won't be an option anymore...also cdmage support is no longer there either FYI.

MPEG2 ==> HDD ==> re author with i-Author ==> *.Cif image ==> EZCD4.0
or is that possible?

Yes this is possible. I myself haven't ever attempted it.

G'Day mrbas,

Thankyou very much for an excellent response, this time around I understood every little bit of what you wrote. Further, I would like to thankyou also, for explaining the modifications in the new version. So may I ask the name of the new authoring program? and will EZCD4.0 be capable of burning these images?

kindest of regards

G'Day, I seem to have hit a snag here. I'm receiving error messages on the mpeg's created by DVD2SVCD in mpgXmps 'probably no mpeg-file / probably wrong packet size'. I recall seeing someone else with that problem a little while ago and notice that the search facility in vBulletin Messages has been disabled. Sorry to be a nuisance but any help on this mpgXmps problem would be appreciated.
