Hey

I have some VOBs on my computer that I need to convert to M2V and AC3/PCM. I can't seem to get DVD Decrypter to do this as it only rips from a DVD. Is there another program(s) that can do this?

Or VOB2MPG then the MPG to M2V + AC3?

Use DGIndex to demux the streams.

Hi!

As an alternative, you can also use SmartRipper...

You can try something like PGC Demux or VobEdit.

If you want to do it with Decrypter, you have to first create an ISO Image (use DVD Shrink without any compression). Next, mount the image using something like Daemon Tools. Then rip the movie in IFO Mode.

Enable Stream processing and then make sure you set the streams to Demux. Right click on one of the streams and select "set all - demux". This will demux all of the streams when you rip.

If you want to author a new DVD, it is better to set file splitting to none. This will make authoring easier and possible with easier programs like DVDlab Pro. Right click on the PGC and select "file splitting=>none".

You can also create a chapter file (chapter information). Right click on the PGC and select "create information file". Then select the format of your choice and click OK. You can then import this to your authoring software so that you do not have to manually add chapters.

I can't seem to demux from harddrive using smartripper. Seems a pretty similar tool to Decrypter.

Using DGIndex do i follow their lengthy way to converting the Video? Or can I use the Save and Demux option?

Also with the failed atempt with Smartripper I decided to waste a DVD and try and decrypt it from there. But each time when I did this with DVD Decrypter and Smartripper it put the sound out. It was correct at the begining of the video but by the end it was way out (video ahead of sound). I used the IFO mode and stream Processing and then clicked the Demux. Any Idea's what causes this and a way to work around it?

Demuxing with SmartRipper from VIDEO_TS files on your Hard Drive is easy, I just did this myself the other day. Once you get into SmartRipper, press the FOLDER icon in the upper right corner. It will let you browse to the HD folder containing your DVD files.

Then you can use the stream demuxing tools SmartRipper provides to get .m2v and .ac3 or .wav streams as needed.

One possibility might be an incorrect video frame rate. I am not familiar with the methods/program you used, but if the video is leading the sound at the end (but not at the start) that is suggestive of either dropped video frames or an incorrect frame rate.

If the frame rate is out by 0.03 fps for example, that translates into a difference of about 7 to 8 seconds over a 2hr movie. Obviously if it is out more, the difference could be huge. Converting to PAL has shown that a difference of up to 4% is not (usually) detectable as "wrong," so you couldn't expect to notice anything.

One of the reasons I keep that around, actually. :) It's great for doing that!
