Allright, here it is.
IfoEdit v0.7 (http://rilanparty.com/vbb/attachment.php?s=&attachmentid=151)

Descriptions/Docs will follow shortly.

New function: Create VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO

This is usefull for DVD's with huge Menu-VOB's, they won't fit on DVD-R.
It creates new VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO, based on the loaded IFO file, except, that there will be no Menu available.
So if you insert your DVD-R, it will directly play the Movie.

But the original VTS_xx_0.IFO is still needed, to preserve chapter information and audio/subpicture language information.

So here's the usage:
Let's say your main movie is in VTS_02_1.VOB - VTS_02_n.VOB.
Now load VTS_02_0.IFO with IfoEdit 0.7, and press 'VOB Extras'.
If you already stripped/remuxed the movie before, and just want to create the 2 IFO files, then uncheck all options, except for
'Create VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO'.
Specify a destination directory, and press 'Okay'.
In that case the source VOB's (VTS_02_1.VOB - VTS_02_n.VOB) will be scanned, and the files 'VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO' will be created in the specified destination directory.
If you selected another option like strip or remux, then of course the destination VOB's will be used.

When it has finished, rename your original VTS_02_1.VOB - VTS_02_n.VOB to VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_n.VOB, and move it to the destination directory. Copy the created IFO files to BUP, and let
s rock'n roll!

PS: I did not try yet to burn it to DVD-RW, and playback in a settop player.
It might be, that some players will need an empty VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01_0.VOB. But I think, we can leave that files away.

Oh, and don't forget to use the button 'Get VTS Sectors', right before burning it to DVD-RW.!!!!

i was just joking, but if u honestly want to know a problem of mine, i use DVD-Wise which is hell at editing dvd menus. If your bored :), see how difficult it would be to create a easy dvd menu editor. For instance maybe change the link of one audio stream to another. Maybe disable some graphics, or add others. Or create menus from scratch. Just a fun suggestion, i am just learning programming (C++ in 21 days.) So i imagine it will be QUITE a while for myself to do this. Thanks for noticing though.

It's really a good idea, but it is hard work, to realize that.
You would need years of programing experience to do that.

That's even for me too much at this time.
But I like the idea. :)

Hi there!

Special greetings to Derrow for coding IfoEdit.... it will scare the dvd industry.

IfoEdit works very well.
But there's one last issue bothering me: the new created VIDEO_TS works with PowerDVD from the harddrive, but not with my stand-alone player :(
The main reason is the recording process with nero. Nero doesn't care for the right physical arrangement of the files on the dvd, so the recorded disc won't be recognized by the stand-aloe player.
Using PrimoDVD might be a solution, but I'm using a DVD+RW-Recorder (Ricoh MP5120A) and this recorder is not supported by Prassi/Primo.

I tried to arrange the files in nero with the "file priority" button: files which should be at the beginning of the dvd need a high priority, the other files middle/medium and those at the end of the disc low priority.... but it didn't work, also :(

Is there any other DVD-recodring program out there, which allows to change the arrangement of the files to have them physically on the dvd as they should be?

Regards,
MoonShine

Thank you for the compliments.

I'm only using VOB Instant CD/DVD, to burn my DVD-RW's.

With it, you are able to rearange the files, how they should be burned. You can even specify the position, not only the priority.

But I never needed that feature! VOB always, burned the files itself, exactly as they should be on a DVD.

I never have had problems, playing my DVD's in my settop player, except I forgot to use my button 'Get VTS Sectors' :D

Two things:

1) Derrow - Thanks a lot for your new version. Any chance it fixes my Pal/Mpeg audio A/V synch problem ?

2) MoonShine - Nero should work fine...are you using the UDF/ISO template when you create a new DVD. File ordering shouldn't be an issue as far as I know. There must be some kind of other problem. What's your player, are you sure it's compatible with DVD+RW ?
I used to have the HP DVD+RW100i (a clone of the Ricoh) and it worked with Prassi, but only at x1 so I swirched to Nero and never had a problem.

@bumblebe: My player is compatible with DVD+RW: I made a copy of a not CSSed DVD on the fly and it worked fine (with my stand-alone).
I'm using PrimoDVD 2.0.7.49 and it only detects my TEAC CDRW12SB, not the Ricoh. Is there a new version or an update available?

Well, at the moment I'm creating an ISO-image with Instant VOB, which I'll record with nero (because Instant VOB doesn't detect my Ricoh, also :()

The Nero settings which I used for my first trials:
- UDF/ISO
- ISO Level 1
- ISO 9660 (strict)

I agree with u, just seeing how DVD-Wise and the other dvd-auth programs react, it looks like a very diffcult and involved process. I think it is amazing what you are doing right now, and you seem to have alot of want to help the scene or if it just challenges yourself, either way you are doing something that alot of people have a need for and that most cannot do on their own. Great ideas, and i look forward to future installments! thanks doc!
Derrow, maybe you or sum1 else could explain to me a quick reference to how VOB-IDs work? I've tried to rip video and audio into one stream each, which doesnt work, then i rip by way of VOB-ID and i can create a working structure with 2 seperate titles(vobs) split by vob id..... This seems to work best, but im looking for a way to maybe take IFO-EDIT's output in one vob file so taht DVD-WISE will read the vob file with the correct timecodes and output a DVD-R with menus(I made) and a correct movie including chapters. If there is an easy way, maybe sum1 could just post that, otherwise i like the final output of IFOEdit .7 without menus, ill just stick with that! thanks...

TO bumblebe:

I have HP DVD writter 100i (DVD+RW).
I was burned many ripped (with Smartripper) DVD (with Nero, PrassiPrimoDVD 2.0) from HDD.
All are readable in PC DVD-ROM and nothing in standalone DVD Player (supported in the list of DVD+RW alliance).
The folders video_ts, audio_ts and all files are uppercase.
I was tried media from HP, VERBATIM and PHILIPS.

Do you know where is the problem?

thank you

...THanX Derrow for this fantastic tool

@MoonShine

...try this options

-DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)
-ISO Level 1
-ASCII-character set
-no relaxing of the iso restriction

(i hope you understand this options...i translate it from german nero version)

@ladicek: If you don't now (for sure) that your dvd-player is compatible with DVD+RW, try this:

- take a not-decrypted (not CSSed) DVD-5: all Criterion DVDs are CSS-free (but you'll need a DVD-5), if you live in europe/germany take a dvd from BMG (old ones), LaserParadise, Astro or old VCL-DVDs
- make a copy with Nero, Instant VOB...

--> if the copy doesn't work with your player, it's not compatible with DVD+RW

ps: I'm using Ricoh DVD+RWs

I tried burned DVD in 2 standalone players (JVC XV-723,Toshiba SD4700).
Both are new and supported DVD+RW discs (by DVD+RW alliance).

And what now?
Can you help me plaese?

thnx

I'm sorry, no.
I was too much involved with the new function's, so I didn't got the time to find a movie with MPEG1 audio stream.

But I do not forget you!

Hey Derrow, i found a small problem, dunno if it has something to do with my setup or IFOEdit .7. I had a small problem, after i decoded and burned SwordFish on a DVD-RW (pioneer), the ending scenes were blocked up and then eventually crashed PowerDVD. Can u check on some of your DVDs by using IFOEdit and your VOBExtras button and then Get VTS sectors on both IFOs. Skip to the last few chapters and see if u get a block problem like what i had, if not, ill try to do the process again on another DVD-R. I did swordfish off of HD already decoded.. that version plays fine, so the problem prolly lies somewhere between IFOEdit, Prassi, or the DVD-RW. Thanks alot.

I spoke too soon, my dvd I did played perfect with powerdvd, but in my standalone dvd played for about 20 sec then picture went black, you can use chapter button to go ahead a bit, movie is there but dvd does not play right. Why would it be perfect with powerdvd but screwed up in my standalone?

Pitty.
Can you send me the created IFO files and the original IFO file?

Later I will try to burn 'The Mummy returns' with the same method, and see if it works.

GOTO: 65.24.12.86, port number 36 L: derrow P: derrow. This just has the ifo and bups on them to look at, nothing more. So anyone interested in anything else besides 2 ifo's and 2 bup's, go elsewhere. Thanks for the help derrow, maybe this could solve the situation?

Goes like this:

1. COPY DVD contents to HD.
2. Rip using SmartRipper in file/backup mode with CSS decrypt on.
3. Use IFO Edit 0.7, Load VTS_01_0.ifo, and hit VOB EXTRAS
4. Click off Re-Mux and Strip VobIDs
5. Click ON Create new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO, save
in new dir as VTS_01_1.VOB
6. When Process is Complete, click Get VTS sectors on VTS_01_0.IFO
7. Open VTS_TS.IFO, click get VTS Sectors, and save again.
8. Open Prassi DVD creator and burn in directories of AUDIO_TS
and VIDEO_TS.

Thats it, then the movies runs the whole way into the last scene where it craps out. Very weird... Thanks.

Woops, I recognized a bug on stripping audio streams!

After correcting the IFO-files VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_xx_0.IFO, the number of Audio streams will always be set to 1 !!

The workaround for now is, edit the table-entries manually.
Just enter the right number of audio-streams in following tables:
IFO: VTS_xx_0.IFO:
Table: 'VTSI_MAT'
Entry: 'Number of audio streams in VTSTT_VOBS'
(Take Care to edit the entry 'VTSTT_VOBS', not 'VTSM_VOBS'!)

IFO: VIDEO_TS.IFO:
Table: 'VMG_VTS_ATRT'
Entry: 'VTS_x: Number of audio streams in Title (VTSTT_VOBS)'
(Take Care to edit the entry 'VTSTT_VOBS', not 'VTSM_VOBS'!)

I tried the new method to create a VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO with IfoEdit, and burned 'The Mummy returns' on DVD-RW, but my settop-player (Pioneer DV-535) doesn't play it at all!

It always say's: 'Searching Title 1' and then it stops.

Damn it. I must be missing something. It might happen the my player requires the table: 'VTS_PGCITI', even if it is a dummy Menu-PGC.
I will check this out this weekend.

Hi,

get an update of the PX Engine from the Prassi/Veritas homepage and your DVD+RW burner will be supported.

I've found some bugs in my new release of IfoEdit 0.7, and fixed the most of em now.

The problem why my settop player always stopped, was a bug in 'Get VTS Sectors'. The start sector for the TitleSet wasn't corrected.
Fixed now.

Found another bug in creating the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO, with available audio and subpicture streams! fixed now.
Another thing are the colors of the subpictures. They will now be copied to the new VTS_01_0.IFO, so that they will look properly, when playing your DVD,

So here's an updated version 0.71
IfoEdit 0.71 (http://rilanparty.com/vbb/attachment.php?s=&attachmentid=167)

derrow,

do you plan to write a little page on the web explaining how to use ifoedit ?

1st case when the main vob files don't have to be changed
2nd case when some audio tracks and other stuff have to be removed to satisfy the 4.3go limit

(maybe doom9 is already writing such a guide i don't know)

even the first post of this thread would be very helpful, i don't just want it to dissapear because new topics always show up in this forum

(sorry for the english)

bye

Edit
Maybe a 3rd case explaining how to reduce the bitrate of the video part (if needed) is the most important. Because reading this forum i've seen that many methods exist and like to know your advices about the best one, quality speaking.

I have found i get many errors when i use rempeg to resize the dvd to 352x480

When i leave it at its original size and use refernce processing instead of integer processing on rempeg everything works flawlessly
