View Full Version : Telecined material problems

Hi!

I hope this is the right place to ask this.
Now I am using mencoder and X264 to encode a telecined movie (PAL 720x576 mpeg2) but it has got these annoying interlace lines in it. I guess it was telecined from film 24fps -> NTSC -> PAL because I have tried mencoders pullup softskip, Filmdint, ivtc and even deinterlacce but nothing seems to get it right.
Is there a way to solve a problem like this: telecined from film 24fps -> NTSC -> PAL, in mencoder? The framerate isn't important in the end.

Thanks!

This has nothing to do with AVC, so it would be better to move this to General Discussion or the Linux forum. Even better would be to ask on the MPlayer/Mencoder users mailing list.

AFAIK there are no IVTC filters in MPlayer that could handle this kind of broken telecined material. You can just deinterlace (with -pp lb perhaps) and maybe sharpen a bit after that.
