I know this has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find a quick and complete solution, from a preliminary search I did.. What I would like to do is :
-extract the English language subtitle, in text format (.srt i guess? ) to compare it with time points and content with the subtitle of the language to be added, which is also in text format.
-delete one subtitle of some other language I don't need from the DVD
-add the new subtitle in its place
-and finally, delete whatever graphics appear in the subtitle setup menu, in the original dvd, that corresponded to the deleted subtitle, and add a new one to correspond to the subtitle added...
Could someone describe whats needed to be done in all those steps, what programs to use, and, if possibly, how? I am not looking for an easy one-click solution, though it would be nice, but a guide to the various programs needed...

Is a method that worked for me to add English language subtitles, which I painstakingly translated from the Russian subtitles, to a Russian movie that only contained Russian subtitles. However, I didn't do anything to change any graphics. If you select the "Russian" subtitles on the movie, you get the English ones now.
