I have problems joining avi files with DTS sound !
I used to virtualdub(official) to join my avi files.Lastly I encounter avi files with DTS sound(tag 2001)!I'm not an expert at things like codecs,video editing tools and various video and audio formats.So I wasn't aware of things like DTS or AC3.After some search I have learned a few things you know.
I discovered also a modification exe of this awesome program you know as VirtualdubMod and thought maybe has DTS support.I was wrong still can't I hear sound of my avi files with DTS!(IN VIRTUALDUBMOD)!
But on the other hand I can play them very well with sound in the several players except Videolan VLC player=(I still dont know why ?).
I discovered that is because of the amazing AC3filter witch comes in the k-lite pack.But it doesn't work with virtualdub(mod) and vieolan vlc !why ?
I discovered also virtul dub is using decoders in the windows system32 folder to decode files so I searched for a DTS sound codec but was unsuccesfull!
Ac3filter is not a decoder am I right ?
When I open the "file information" feature in vdm I get this;

Please help me if VirtualDub(mod) cannot do this is there another tool ?(Video +DTS sound !!!)

you can mux your avi with dts sound in mkvmerge to mkv
(about VDM and dts in avi - I don't know)

ac3filter is a decoder, ffdshow can also decode dts sound (vlc should do this too)...

I dont want it to be matroska.
I only want my pieced films to be one peace and in avi format.
Is there a way to make virtualdub decode DTS ?Plugin or sowhat ?!
I will never download DTS attached avi's anymore.Because I cant join them.(Yes I can but result is not good allways.It emerges delays between video and sound so I must cut some video to sencronize it but without sound in VirtualDub(DTS) I dont know how much frames to cut )

%90 of my .avi's are ac3 so what should I say ?
I don't have problems with ac3 just DTS ?
Please help me ?
Btw why does the virtualdub not support dts sound ????
