Hi!

I have a question regarding subtitles in Half-D1 (352x576) resolution PAL video.
Subtitles are saved by DVDLab in a resolution of 720x576 (Full PAL). I've muxed it into a D1 video track (anamorphic 16:9), and the results are strange (to me at least). The titles are horizontally streched by 50%, and only the left half is being displayed, kinda like this:
-------------------------------
.........................................
.........................................
.............Picture...................
.........................................
|........................S u b t i t l e s t r e c h e d
.........................................
.........................................
-------------------------------
Any ideas how to fix it properly?
Is this a bug with software players only? I don't have access to a set-top box at the moment, so I can't really test it on them.
I've found out a workaround, by taking my favourite sub font, opening it in FontLab, and resizing the chars horizontally by -50%, then in DVDLab, setting the left margin to 0 and right margin to a ridiculously high 372. This way I'm getting a nice sub, however, this isn't a really good solution.
Any ideas?

At least with some software players (can't remember which), half-D1+subtitles=screwy, but they will be fine on a standalone.

One thing you can do is to use SubRip to see if the subtitles are positioned properly in the subpictures.

Sounds like it may be a task for "SubEdit"...

I am using PowerDVD on my computer.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that right now!
