hey everyone,
ok...first off....i'm a gknot newbie...i've used flask and xmpeg alot before...but gknot seems to be faster...and has better quality...anyways....
i followed the doom9 gknot guide to rip "Swordfish"...
the video looks great...but the audio is out of sync.
how do i go about fixing it?
i figured one of these cool little apps that gknot installed should do the trick...but i'm at a loss as to where i should start.

128kbps average bitrate...
i think it says it's delayed 82ms...
i'd like to avoid re-encoding the video if possible.

how did you get your ac3-files? did you really rip with smartripper.2.40/moviemode and demux in dvd2avi?
force film or ivtc?

i ripped with dvd decrypter (i was origionally going to use XMPEG).
but i followed the guide with dvd2avi word by word from there on.
did force film...because after it played for about 5 min...FILM was up to 95%
don't remember changing any ivtc settings

Hi-Did you delay it the amount it said (usually it's a negative number; 82ms would be unusual, but -82 might be more normal)? If you don't remember the exact amount, go back and look at the AC3 title-it's in there. If you no longer have the AC3 file, then go find Doom9's VDub guide where there's a section on fixing asynch. You don't have to reencode-just fix the delay (assuming it's off by the same amount throughout the whole movie). DVD Decrypter isn't too good with multi-angle movies, but I don't remember Swordfish as being multi-angle. If you're going to use GKnot in the future, you should use Smart Ripper.

yeah....it's -83ms...and it was in the box on the encoding screen...
and i tried using that value in nandub's interleave options...but it didn't make a difference...the sound is still comming on too fast...
i would have used smart ripper...but...i was origionally goin to use xmpeg (doom9 guides always say to use dvd decrypter with xmpeg)...and lets just say that my dog had already eaten my DVD :(
i'll start playing with this:
http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm#mansynch
that seems to be a good place for me to start....right?

I ran into the same problem working on swordfish. Used smartripper 2.4 file mode, then dvd2avi demux, then gknot/divx3. Audio part comes in a few seconds faster than usual. Using negative 83ms delay at 128kbps. Just passing on the same info in case this is a bug.

I've heard about this problem in other places too, with this particular title. So it's possibly some sort of lame copy-protection scheme... If anyone has had success with this one, can't they tell us the correct av-delay value? Remember to state region and origin of the disc!

I was pretty curious to know if anyone has either found a solution to this problem, or IF it is fixable. I really want to get this movie backed up but I get this damn audio problem with it. To me it seems to go out of sync when that blue "RATED R" screen comes up. If there maybe a way to cut that chunk of video out but leave the rest of the video and audio going? Not really sure if that is possible or not.
