Hello everybody,

I have a problem with the playback color quality of mpeg2 files on my computer.
It looks like the green channel is missing or it is to low.
I encode to mpeg2 with my Magix NLE program.
The installed mpeg2 decoder is also from Magix: Ligos.

When I import these files in Virtualdub Mod, colors are fine.
Importing them again in Magix works fine, too.

But playback in Mediaplayer, Zoomplayer and the Nero player gives bad colors.

The same files are playing fine on my TV...

Is this a color space issue?
Are there maybe any settings I must look at?

Thank you in advance for advise,

Fred.

I have posted this more than one year ago :(
I still have this problem...

Mpeg2 codecs on computers... It's a disaster.
You never know what filter chain a certain player will use...

I can use all the help I can get here.
The problem is still the same:
The colors from my Mpeg2 files are fine in VdMod.
They are bad (very blue) on all my players.
ZoomPlayer, Media Player Classic, etc etc.

Maybe some of you can recommand me analysing tools or something?
There must be a problem somewhere...
Am I the only one with that specific problem?

Thank you all in advance,

Fred.

Did you try a different MPEG2 decoder filter?

Thank you for your reply..

That's my problem...

Mpeg2 codecs are coming with programs like Power DVD, right? Where do I find free Mpeg2 codecs and how do I set one of them as the default codec? It's the merit, right?

Nero is doing things behind the scenes, too.
And different players are often using different filter chains, too.
As an amateur It is very difficult to have a good view on all the installed filters and the priority of them.

Avi is much more simple :)

try mpui, since it does not use any system decoders; http://mpui.sourceforge.net/
