It's finally working more like Media Player Classic.

Another month and this will have all the major functionality of MPC but with the benefit of coming with a custom built CVS build of MPlayer.

http://mpui.sourceforge.net/index.php

2006-02-18 [1.1.4.23]

* screensaver is now disabled in fullscreen mode
* fixed stupid bug that caused some systems to start up with Belarusian language (effectively showing nothing but question marks in the UI)
* added »higher priority« option. This is activated by default, so be warned that you'll run into trouble with some graphics cards if you use a »off-the-shelf« MPlayer version instead of the one that comes with MPUI
* added –softvol option, enables playback with volume settings way above 100%
* whole directories can now be added to the playlist; however, the UI will be unresponsive while adding the directories (this will be fixed soon)
* added fullscreen controls: simple move the mouse to the bottom of the screen
* added right-click popup menu
* not using ShowCursor() any longer (like in <1.1.2) because the cursor would be invisible in the popup menu in fullscreen mode
* added »compact mode« (without caption, menu bar and navigation). Note that some keyboard shortcuts (Alt+n for example) don't work in this mode.
* fixed position of some (but not all) keyboard shortcut hints in the menus; I hope there are no side effects since this involved a change in the shortcut handling system, too
* changed »always on top« shortcut from Ctrl+T to just T
* »always on top« mode should no longer interfere with fullscreen mode
* the technical/internal captions for untranslated controls were changed into terse, but clear english ones
* compiled with Delphi 6 again, because D2005, despite having XP style support, got the menus totally wrong: checked items were indistinguishable from unchecked ones
* added the Ukrainian translation I got some time ago, but never integrated

This GUI is kind of buggy at the moment but they are adding features and fixing bugs very quickly and is already working better and has more features than the GUI at OSSFarm.

In a short time this will be better than VLC for playback. I'm following the development closely.

Why, if I may ask you. Every good playing program have support for subtitles.

celtic_druid

What slavickas would have meant is that they don't like you therefor they wouldn't add it since it would hopefully piss you off. At least that is what I would read into it.

Fact is that mplayer supports subtitles and autoloads them, so even if the GUI doesn't allow loading or whatever, they still should work. Yep, just tried it here and they work fine.

slavickas could have also mean that if they were developing something then they wouldn't want you using it.

Please note that I am not flamming you or anything. I just get the impression that most of the people around here don't like you/are sick of you.

The subtitles work fine and autoload perfectly. They just have to have the same filename and directory listing as the video file. A subtitle loader will be added to MPUI soon from what I hear.

Pre-release of 1.1.5 out.

* shortcut hints in menus look ugly again -- keys like F, C, T, O and Q were handled for the _whole_ application, which made it impossible to enter these letters in the options or log window
* playlists and directories can now be specified at the command line
* all arguments of the command line will be concatenated into a single argument string. This helps a bit with broken file associations (MPUI.exe %1 instead of MPUI.exe "%1"), but not for file names with two or more successive blanks.
Fix your associations, folks. That's not (yet) my job.
* made the info button functional
* fixed typo in options window
* command box in log window works again

The developer posted it at this forum

I'm glad I came accross this thread. Nice program that is improving everyday. but what I like most about it is the KRP jokes going on in here.

I'll check back on the program after the next update.

Hi, is there any way to change subtitles position either into mpui or mplayer? ATM they take half of the video surface (!) and black bars are unused.
Please note I am a total newbie in both mpui/mplayer and I dont know very much about overlay, black bars added by players, etc. I am a medium MPC wmr7 renderless user...
thanks

I think MPUI adds the black bars in order to make the video fit to the screen, and not MPlayer. So the subtitles cannot be inside the blacks bars. Maybe it's possible to let the video extend by MPlayer, like letterbox, and this way move the subtitles to the black bars...

I forgot to mention that I dont want the video to be cut or distorted...
with MPC + vobsub its easy to place them under the video (black bar) and I think MPC standalone places them crossing in the middle of video and black bar (sorry for bad english), only using renderless mode

I'm impressed with this GUI+mplayer combo BUT I will not use it unless there's a option to save default Volume and Brightness settings.

Is there some 'hidden' setting ? I'm not experienced on mplayer shell commands yet.

Well the config file is basically for that. Default settings.

Hmmm. There doesnt seem to be an option to save these yet. However, can't you just add those to the "additional mplayer parameters" to the settings you want? Those are definitely saved across sessions.

Thanks for your reply :)

Well, I can't get audio settings to work to my liking as the MPUI volume bar is always at 100% upon startup irrelevant of what the command paramenters to mplayer is set at.

Video, yes I got brightness to work by parameter but I realize I need VMR9 windowed output for this to fully work since a 2nd instance of MPUI/Mplayer will not use the default renderer (limitation in Windows).

So I guess, my 2 new questions. Actual audio controls in MPUI, and how to output to VMR9 Windowed renderer as I can't find that parameter in Mplayer documentation. The 2nd question might be better asked in a mplayer thread though...

so i dont think you can use VMR9 with it:rolleyes:

well, mplayer support directx vo but that doesnt mean mplayer is a directshow based player, its a cross-platfrom player.

NEW VERSION OUT

http://mpui.sourceforge.net/index.php

2006-03-18 [1.1.5.27]

* replaced the main menu by a toolbar that only looks like a menu. This resolves a bunch of issues all at the same time:
o partially white menu bar in XP's Themed (»Teletubbie«) Mode is gone
o most shortcuts line up correctly in the menus
o keys like T, F or O are no longer mistaken as shortcuts
o Alt+$x and Ctrl+$x shortcuts work in compact mode
* playlists and directories can now be specified at the command line
* all arguments of the command line will be concatenated into a single argument string. This helps a bit with broken file associations (MPUI.exe %1 instead of MPUI.exe "%1"), but not for file names with two or more successive blanks.
Fix your associations, folks. That's not (yet) my job.
* fixed the -softvol option (I misinterpreted the MPlayer manpage)
* made the info button functional
* fixed typo in options window
* command box in log window works again
* added support for multimedia control keys (Play/Pause, Stop, Previous Track, Next Track) on modern keyboards
* added Bulgarian, Chinese, Italian and Esperanto translation
* suppressing repeated lines in the log window
* disabling power management while playing now
* added "-compact" command-line switch to start up in compact mode
* ShoutCast/Icecast streamed title tags are now shown in the Info window
* issuing a warning on Win9x systems now
* added Alt+Enter as an alias for »toggle fullscreen mode«
* 'S' key makes screenshots now (shot0001.png in the work directory where MPUI was started)
* 'L' key toggles playlist window now
* the Pause button now acts as a single-step button
* Shuffle and Repeat playback modes

VMR just wont work with mplayer to my knowledge. MPC would be the best way to do that since thats all directshow right there.

Sorry I can't help but I suggest that you use MPC for your video needs.

NEW VERSION OUT

2006-03-23 [1.1.6.28]

* added Korean translation
* fixed mis-positioned shuffle/repeat checkboxes
* added option to save playlists
* fixed icon order in video pop-up menu
* added cache fill indicator (but eats up CPU cycles like hell ... this is due to MPlayer's strange behavior, I'm afraid)
* AutoPlay now plays multiple files and playlists
* (hopefully) repaired DVD playback (it collided with the recursive directory search feature, argh!)
* mapped Alt+4...Alt+8 keys to popup the main menus
* MPUI logo is now hidden between files (when multiple files are played)

NEW VERSION OUT

2006-03-30 [1.1.7.29]

* fixed mispositioned Save Playlist button
* added Romanian translation
* replaced GetWindowsDirectory() by GetEnvironmentVariable("windir") – one user had trouble with the former, so let's hope the latter one works for all
* window is now always restored when switching normal/fullscreen/compact mode (this fixes issues when switching to fullscreen while the window is maximized)

What about Serbian traslation? And, MPUI doesn't support Serbian letters, such as š,ć,č,ž,đ,dž.

Example: instead " Ja sam bio na ručkama šunjajući se", MPUI shows " Ja sam bio na ruckama sunjajuci se".

Can somebody fix this. Thank you.
