I have been trying to mux Xvid+OGG+SRT subtitles into a single .mkv file but I've been running into problems. Muxing will go fine (I've tried VDubMod and mkvtoolnix), but when I go to play it using Windows Media Player 10, it will load everything but then never begin to play the file. It'll sit at 00:00:00 unless I manually seek to a new spot, but it'll freeze there as well. I've tried both Haalis and Gabests MKV splitters and they both have the same problem. When I disable VSFilter, the files play, but I am without subtitles. Leaving VSfilter installed but not muxing the .srt file also works.

I've tried the same thing except using the OGM container, and everything works fine.

Use Media Player Classic and drop Winbl0ws Media Player...

I use WMP10 and I would like it to work in it, so that isn't overly helpful :\

I had same troubles with VSFilter old versions and ffdshow. Upgrade it to 2.38 (and/or downgrade ffdshow back to 2004/10/12) solves this problem but introduces other incompatibility: if a directory where .mkv locates has a file with same name and extension ".txt" then VSFilter may crash unpredictedly depending on contents of .txt file. :(

Make sure you dont have the tool 'vobsub' installed, it installed a very old version of vsfilter causing conflicts with WMP 10. Installing new vsfilter doesnt help, old version will still exist and screw playback.
