I have some video that was encoded as SVCD but it's really too long to be put on a CD. I've been told that others have burned video like this to DVD instead, but that they had to edit the headers for proper screen format.
I have Nero 7 Ultra. Just got it, so I'm new to it's features.
What will I have to do in order to burn this SVCD-formatted video to DVD?

Choice #1 - buy DVDLab to author the DVD. It will accept SVCD input even though it's not legal for DVD.
Choice #2 - I don't remember how to do this, but there is a freeware program that can be used to re-write your video header to show the video as being DVD compliant (say, 720x480). Then you can author the DVD, but you have to re-write the header again after generating the VOBs to show the true SVCD resolution. I've seen discussions on it. A web search might find the info.

The program in question is DVDPatcher
http://www.wincesoft.de/DVDPatcher_v106.zip

It's a long time since I've done this but from memory it's much as jshumate says.

Get DVDPatcher and run your SVCD mpeg through it. Set it to patch ALL headers, not just the first. Set resolution to a the relevant D1 size - 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL.

Author your disc, then run each vob back through DVDPatcher to correct the headers to SVCD resolution.

IIRC you then have to use IFOEdit to correct resolution info in the IFO's before you burn.

Good luck

Author your disc, then run each vob back through DVDPatcher to correct the headers to SVCD resolution.

That's OK, but don't do it if you use TDA. In this case:

Patch
Import
Patch back
Author
Burn

However you'll need to resample audio 44100 Hz -> 48000 Hz before authoring.
