Is it possible to encode 5.1 Audio tracks on a SVCD? Are there any tools out there that support this?

TMPG will mux an AC3 stream with an m2v stream, but to create a Dolby Digital track from another source would require Sonic Foundry Soft Encode, which I think has been discontinued.

hi
tried to make a svcd with a ac3 soundtrack the muxing and burning step just went fine but it did`nt play on my standalone
and i think its no player specified prob but a standard related thing

i believe the svcd structure makes it impossible to read the ac3 stream(for standalones)

but maybe there is a way???? anybody got an idea????

A friend of me have a Yamakawa standalone Player and he could play SVCD with ac3 Audio without any problem.

Yes you can add a 5.1 Multi Channel to a SVCD.

Look in this thread http://rilanparty.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12771

to stay within the svcd specifications, you can get a 5.1 audio stream using an MPEG 5.1 stream [altho, last i heard, there were only tools to do this in linux]. as well, there aren't any/many dvd players that can play decode this mpeg 5.1 stream.

like other people have said, it is possible to mux an ac3 stream with an m2v, but this no longer conforms to svcd specs and it's up to you to see if your player will play this.
