As I'm quite into AAC files, I have iTunes installed.....

However, I've noticed that even when iTunes is not in use there's a couple of "exe" files that are!

These "exe" files are: iPodService.exe and iTunesHelper.exe

What really miffs me is I don't even have an iPod player, so the "iPod service" is of no practical use to me... And as for the "iTunes helper" - What's the point of this I wonder?!?!

Anyway... Does anybody know how to permanently disable these processes?

Cheers

Kill the process, delete the files. Doesn't get any more permanent than that. Otherwise, hunt through the registry or services panel to figure out where they're starting up from.

Click Start > Run, type msconfig and Enter, click the Startup tab, and you'll be able to uncheck those items from loading on startup. They will of course launch anyway when you start their associated program, but at least they won't load until you need them. Don't just delete the files or you'll end up having to kill a bunch of error messages each time you boot, if it boots at all.

What are those 2 needed for?

Thanks guys...

Actually I did manage to totally delete the "iPod" folder and the iTunes/iTunes.Helper.Recorces folder from the "Programs" directory, without any ill effect.

Those files are for people with an IPOD. It allows itunes to automatically start when you connect the IPOD to the computer.
