View Full Version : Recompressing DVD audio, but not video - how?

I am having compatibility issues with DVDs made by ProShow Gold, a program to make slideshows from photos.
It can only make the audio mp2 384kbps or PCM at 1536kbps.

The PCM it compatible, but makes the files too large and the mp2 is dodgy quality, but more importantly, it's not very compatible.

So, I would like to take the DVD that I have made with PCM sound, and make it into a DVD with AC3 (2.0) sound, but without touching the video, obviously.

What software would I need to do this? There is no way to check if programs support 'not recompressing video', because they are not going to advertise with that; I tried looking for it but failed.

It's for work, so I don't mind spending a bit, but can't go too crazy.

Cheers!

Hi!

Once you've created your alternative .AC3 audio file, you could readily use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to load the original DVD and select the new .AC3 audiostream as the audio source. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:
