Hi,

I have a large set of small *.vob files I ripped off some DVDs. These files contain movie-trailers. I'd like to put them on one single DVD.

However it would be quite a lot work to demux all of them and build them again. Is there any faster and easier way to directly use the ripped *.vob's and create a simple menu to make them work with standalones?

Any hints are greatly appreciated, even if they just mention the right tool

thanks.

It is possible e.g. with Dvdlab but it is not recommended.
From my point of view its always better to demux and work with elementary streams.

Well, is there any tool that could batch-demultiplex several files at once without having to select each one of them seperately?

Hi!

A tool that is ideally suited to this (and simple to use), with NO demultiplexing necessary, is "TMPGEnc DVD Author". You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

If you still have the DVDs that your VOBs came from, you can use DVD Shrink to create a new DVD (re-author mode) and add the trailers to the new DVD.

(If you only have the VOBs, you can use IfoEdit to create a set of IFO and BUP files for each set of VOBs, and then use DVD Shrink as described above)

Hi folks,

I tried TMPGEnc DVD Author, but I could not find any function to import VOBs. Maybe it was so well hidden that I missed it.

Hmm, the IfoEdit attempt sounds promising. I do have the DVDs still, but it would take even longer to search for them and rip them again.

I'll try that next.

I also tested DVD lab already, however it did not produce good results. The DVD menu did not work properly and some of the trailers were quite jerky. I think, DVDlab is not a good thing for that purpose.

But thanks a lot for your help, it's really appreciated!!

By this time it seems you probably could have just demuxed them and you would have been done with it.

While demuxing them all may seem like a hastle, it's just part of the process. You can do it, or you can post threads and search the internet for an easier way... but all the while just think you could have demuxed it and been done with it already.

I tried TMPGEnc DVD Author, but I could not find any function to import VOBs.After you've clicked on "Add File", click on the down arrow to the right of the box labeled "Files of type" and select "All Files"...
