Is it currently possible to encode audio via itunesencode with MeGui? Via the avisynth audio system perhaps?
Or some other way to use the iTunes AAC encoder in MeGui?

Not at this point in time. Only the FAAC and Nero AAC encoders do AAC. Perhaps in the future, when audio is sorted out better.

considering Apple's track record with frameserved sources, I do have my doubts. QuickTime can't handle frameserved video, even with a fake AVI, so it's not so much of a stretch to think iTunes won't be able to handle fake WAVs either.

there has been a cmdl wrapper for the apple aac encoder here (http://efenstor.stratopoint.com/qutibacoas.htm) called "qutibacoas"
it might also work with itunes or with newer qt7? dunno

Unfortunally "qutibacoas" works via WAV files too (it's just batch automation, it does not use any QT API)

thx
one note:
itunes aac and qt aac are the same codecs. anyone knowing if itunes (freely avaialble) supports vbr and multichannel encoding like the qt encoder?
it seems the qt aac encoder (not freely available) till now only supports encoding multichannel to mov (but stereo to mp4 too). now some might say (as always) "but hey, mov = mp4" and i answer "no, its not" ;)
apple stores aac differently in mov than in mp4. but as i see it latest mp4box is already smart enough to remux aac-in-mov to a correct aac-in-mp4, so it might not be a problem to use in megui!?
either way, just thought that info might be useful for the future...

I think this is rather important: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=778071#post778071
And since this tool is for QT, and QT cannot handle frameserved video.. somebody should try to feed it frameserved audio.. if that doesn't work, we can close this.

qt doesn't support audio files > 2GB.
Maybe solution will be spliting?
