Hey All,
With the onset of a 2yr old, I would like to capture some Sat. morning video for later viewing. There is just so much software, that I am overwhelmed. I am currently running the following:

Capture Card - Leadtek TV2000XP
Software - Leadtek PVR software/drivers for viewing and capturing (30 minutes of MPEG2 yields a 700mb file of barely watchable video)

What I want:
Software -
Viewing - Cleanest picture
Capturing - Use a non bloated, easy to use program
Codec - Non compressed codec..HuffyYUV?? (AMD 2.2Ghz w/ 1GB ram, 120GB free hd space)
Encoding - Easiest to use DivX/Xvid encoding software GK?? (DVP642 player)

I hope I put this post in the right place.....thx

If you're referring to capturing TV shows for later viewing, a simple approach would to be to use a DVD-compliant preset if one is offered by your capture device's software. t's relatively easy to edit out commercials and can later be burned to a standard DVD-ROM for "drop in and play" use without having to re-encode. I do this with Roxio's DVD Rebuilder all the time.

You can also capture directly with VirtualDubMod and save in HuffYUV format.

Hi!

Sounds like you're planning to do this frequently and in an ongoing manner. If so, you should seriously consider purchasing a "tabletop"/standalone DVD recorder...
