Changing codec

Have a noob question for y'all..

I recently bought a dvd player that will play Divx and Xvid files, however one one of my video files that is encoded in Divx 5 will not play in it..
I want to change the file to Xvid to see if it will then play..but want to change it WITHOUT compressing it again..

How might i do this?

Hi!

You stand a better chance (if any) of making it playable by simply changing the FOURCC of the file to DivX v.3.11 alpha (No encoding involved)...
