Question about dual core performance

No problem in this post. This is more of a curiosity thing. Has anyone seen big improvements in encoding speed (or any of the tools used to back movies up) when using a dual core cpu instead of a traditional single core cpu?

from what i understand you have to run 2 encoding sessions to take advantage of that and since batchccews only does one at a time i would say 'no'. i'll take a look at what it would involve running 2 instances of cce (newer versions that dont need eclcce).. calling separate threads is easy but having the batch routines handle them is the real issue.
