Hi

Is there any way to edit wmv files without re-encoding?
The purpose of this is to cut out commercials from real-time encoded wmv9 files.

Sorry.

I did a search but can't seem to find anything regarding this matter.
Were you trying to tell me that there is no way to do this?

If you don't mind command line tools, you might want to give asfbin (http://www.radioactivepages.com/) a try.

Thanks, but it seems wmeditor just lets me crop the beginning and end of a wmv file, unless I'm doing something wrong.

That did the trick. They also had a GUI for it on the same page.
I noted down the times I wanted to cut out with WMP, and then used the GUI to specify which parts I want cut out.

Now, I have to wait for someone to come out with a frame acurate editor that re-encodes just the bits before the keyframe :D

Thanks everyone!

AsfBin is suppose to have keyframe accuracy. The catch is that you have to know where the keyframes are to being with.

This tool will allow you to remove any commercials blocks from WMV in one pass without re-encoding. Though it is shareware it doesn't have any restrictions.

Hi.

If it does what I think it does (editing wmv files without reencoding in one comprehensive interface), than it would be one of a kind.

Unfortunately, I installed the demo version (SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_1_1_beta.zip) on my computer and it says that my 21 day evaluation has expired, even though this is the first time I installed it.

I really would like to try it before I buy it :D

<edit>
My bad. It works even though it says it had expired. Man, this program does exactly what I want.
