Hello everyone,
I have a ready made Video_TS folder and i would like to just add CSS encryption so that the DVD i made cannot be copy/pasted on the harddrive of the person i give it to. Is this possible in any way? If so how?
Thnx in advance,
Emilianos

I think you cannot burn css disks in regular drive you need a special one( i think it is called a DLT)
About the protection, you can try dvd copy protector beta.
i think is aviable in the download section in
http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/ ( but you need to ask the author for the password in order to extract it from the zip)
hope it helps

I think dirio49 is right. I'm pretty sure that you need something additional to make CSS work.
Are you REALLY sure that your DVD is so precious that you simply must protect it? I'm asking a rhetorical question because it seems to me that if you bought Scenarist, you could simply ask the guys who produce Scenarist what you have to do to make it work. You do understand that even if you do get CSS to work, that your DVD can still be cracked, don't you?
Frankly, I could care less what your motivation is for protecting it or what the content is. However, I see posts all the time in various forums from people who are convinced that someone wants to steal their precious videos of their kid playing t-ball or at a dance recital and they want to know how to copy protect their discs. If you were a professional DVD maker, I doubt you would have to post a question asking how to do it and if you're not, do you really think that CSS is necessary? You might also want to check on region coding since your DVD is so valuable that people will want to steal it. That would add another (also easily removable) layer of nuisance to your disc.

A DLT won't do you any good.. it's just the standard mechanism of getting an authored product to a pressing plant. You have to prepare your master for CSS insertion (Scenarist has that option, other professional grade apps are likely to offer this as well), but the CSS keys are only added at the pressing plant.. so you need to have your DVD pressed if you want to use CSS.

Guys thank you very much! Your answers were to the point and helped me very much...
So CSS is out of the question...
I will check out dirio's poposal.
THNX again:)
P.S @jshumate Yes you are right im not a professional DVD maker else i would be teaching these stuff not asking questions in the forum;)

Yes, the zip file posted at JDobbs' site is password-encrypted (not very useful). Here's the information regarding its capabilities:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=99761
The author seems to indicate that DVD Decrypter (but not some others) CAN get past his copy protection...

It never asked me for a password though

Let me modify my statement - It's either password-protected or, for some reason, otherwise not extractable.
I get errors based on excessive filename length and/or filename characters not recognized by Windows...

you need winzip to unzip in, winrar does not understand it.

@dirio49
Can you provide a little advice, please? When I attempt to use WinZip (v.10.0), it insists on asking me to enter a password. What is the password?
Thanks ;>}

Hi all,
I'm the author of the first version of Dvd Copy Protector 1.00beta.This utility is very experimental ....now i'm working to the next version (using visual .net).
The password is:
dcpv100beta
This sofware is not a wizard software .......for information about the functions
you can open a Thread for example called "Dvd Copy Protector" and I'll try to reply there.
Please don't use my email lipparelli@libero.it because I receive many mail about this program......Sorry for my english but i'm italian doom9 team member
Bye all

there is a bug...cannot make iso...looks like path to mkisofs is wrong.
However, after using the encryt and corrput ifo/vob options Anydvd says DVD is mastered wrong and shuts itself off. DVD Decryptor will try to copy...when it hits the bad section it just shuts off and stops copying....interesting. So if you made VTS 1 bad and had movie in VTS 2 then all would stop copying right away....easily fixed though but average user would be stuck....when is new beta?

I tried corrupting vob files as suggested by Ron spencer, but the resulting VOB is still playable. Anyone did any test?
Thank you all
