I bought a Cyberhome CH-DVR1600 DVD recorder from ASDA (UK) just before Christmas and basically I'd like to know:

a) what leads I need to get to hook up the DVD recorder to the PC and
b) what the best software to use to cummunicate with the DVD Recorder?

I may want to record on the DVD Recorder direct from the PC - is this possible? And if I want to rip a disc from the DVD Recorder to the PC - is this also possible?

Cheers in advance.

according to this page:

your DVD recorder has a firewire connector - which would be more or less the ideal way to connect it to your computer...

about software: what for - i would hope that for transfering files you should not need extra software - for working with the videos it depends on what you want to do ;)

PS: there's no "best" ;) - see the rules for details...

Yeah I forgot there was a firewire port. I presume if I plug the DVD Recorder into the PC via firewire, the DVD Recorder will show as an extra drive or something in Windows will it?
