TMPG 3.0 Express AVI-MPEG--DVD

I m trying to convert an AVI file over to Mpeg then I will use TMPG DVD Author to convert the Mpeg file to DVD. I've done this in the past many,many times, but I recently reformatted my CPU and now when I click on the AVI file 3.0 Express says it can t open the video file,only the audio.
I'm wondering if I'm missing any codecs?
I'm also wondering if there are any other software that can do the job?

I'm wondering if I'm missing any codecs?That's what it sounds like. Load the file into either GSpot or VirtualDub to find out which video codec was used. For future reference, it's probably a good idea to maintain a log of which codecs you used to create your .AVIs...
