Hello All,

I have been burning dvd's thanks to this forum for many years. I now want to move vcr tapes to dvd! The guides are very helpful for the porcess, but not the card needed. Do you guys have any suggestions for a decent card that can handle analog and maybe digital later on down the road. I have Nero 7 so I think I am all set on the software side, just looking for a card under $100.

Any thoughts?

:stupid:

I am only recommending this card because ATI finally released its MMC 9.13 software, which will support the 550 Pro hardware encoding. I have been able to do some test captures with a program called ChrisTV, and the picture is great! But ChrisTV costs $30, whereas MMC is free. I will be testing how MMC does in the next few days, but IMHO, the Theater 550 Pro does a great job.

I have a Terratec Cinergy 400 TV which works much better than my old ATI All-in-Wonder. I use it with VrtualVCR to capture VHS to huffyuv avi and then afterwards compress it to DVD format.

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo which works pretty well with VHS stuff, and has no probs in VirtualVCR and VirtualDub 1.6. It cost me about €70 but you can probably get it a lot cheaper in the US.
