two video_ts to dvd with menu

I have two movies that should easily fit onto a dvd5, The movies are ready for burning in video_ts folders. Nero says that one of the movies will take up nearly 3.5 gig on the dvd whereas DVD SANTA says it will take up about 780 mb or 17% of a dvd 5. I need to burn the folders to dvd with a menu so i can navigate it. Any suggestions.

It seems i have authored a svcd(jimmalenko at videohelp). The original was in .bin and .cue, i used svcd2dvd so i don't know why i got svcd back! Any way of converting the .vobs to dvd compliant without too much degradation as i have deleted the original bin and cue files(re-authored a while back and need disc space).
