This is what the problem is.
For whatever reason that windows media player can't play m2v files and PowerDVD can, is the same reason i believe that the m2v files are not opening properly in Vegas 6.0c for me.
The strange thing is that some of the m2v files do open correctly in vegas & wmp, and some don't.
What would cause some files to work, and some files not to work? they were all extracted & converted the same way.
Any suggestions? is it a codec problem?

What would cause some files to workDifferent types of source material or similar types created differently. How did you create the source material for each?

I didn't create the source material, everything was extracted from different dvds.
I have a feeling it's a software related problem with this pc, i don't think i had this issue with my old pc, that's why i think maybe a codec is missing? but i might be wrong.

They are various titles, all 5 minute music videos that were on dvd-rs, i believe region 1 (US).
I ripped the dvd with DVD Decrypter, and then i took the .vob file and converted it to .m2v file using "vStrip GUI .8"
