Here is the beginning of something we hope to make the most advance media playback engine for any web browser.
First be warned... this a technology demo... so treat is as such.
Download our latest version and install it:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/tcpmpx/tcpmpX-installer-20060119034510.zip
Media Player Demo:http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/tcpmpx/index.htm
COSP Demo 1: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/demo/first/
COSP Demo 2: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/demo/second/
Its buggy... yeah... but over the next 2 months it will become the basis of something MUCH bigger. For now... enjoy and post your feedback.

Wanna test something cool and shows off the power of TCPMP? Look here in either IE or FireFox:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/tcpmpx/index.htm
Wow, Betaboy that link is so cool! I can play everything! I'm downloading a 1080p AVC trailer from Apple to see how it compares to TCPMP .71h.
The UI looks really nice - fullscreen mode is cool too... Everything is so slick, clear... I love the blue progress bar (kinda OSX)... double click expands to fullscreen... autohide controls... you guys think of everything.
How was the response at the CES? I sure like it!

I found something I didn't like in it already (uh oh!). When the player autohides the controls while I'm watching a movie the picture "jumps" up -when I drag my mouse down to pull up the controls- a little and then back when it autohides the controls. This is in both fullscreen and normal mode. Is this neccessary? That's it so far - now for AVC playback...

Uhmm, I don't know what just happened but I got a benchmark in the latest TCPMP of about 33% and in the online CES version of TCPMP I was able to playback the same video file (Ice Age 1080p) almost perfectly -except for a small lag right in the beginning.
Can someone check if a video file benchmarks the same before and after installing the ActiveX TCPMP? Is this a bug, or is the ActiveX TCPMP alot faster? That would be so cool!
GhengisKhan
P.S. The quality is amazing!

GK... We have not benchmarked the IE/FireFox plugins... so if you are getting faster results then sweet ;-)

GK... a DVD filter is planned... but for later in Q2 2006 as we prep the player for a broader market. This does not mean that we will be the ones actually licensing the filter. But more like the third parties we license TCPMP too would. We will just provide them with the tools to enable it.
Awesome, that sounds really cool! And yes, I am getting really good results with ActiveX - I'm just not sure because I thought my AVC 1080 trailers played back alot better after the latest test version - maybe the trailers I tested were different in CPU needed (V is for Vendetta played back very well -over 100% in TCPMP .71h while Ice Age was going at about 33% decoding speed) I don't know if this is a TCPMP issue or if the ActiveX did something... Oh well, I really like the ActiveX version now though (it's in my favorites :D ! I would like to see the new skin in the next release too - that would be cool!

Hmm it's strange i have massive problems with playbacking external HD content with the Plugin inside IE and Firefox, but the files are legit they play in TCPMP as well as in any other Player just fine and it seems the Devs have no idear what the problem could be so if anyone expirience the same please report it :)

It is not really available to the public yet. This build is an old TCPMP build, hence why some AVC files are not playing properly. We are continuing to work on some additional functionality (right click menu, stream selection, etc), bug fixes, and some code examples for webmasters to use TCPMPx (internal name btw).
Note... that in the real world use that there will be no 'browse' functionality and that for every page TCPMPx is on it will begin to buffer/playback content.

ok, I have a n00bish question, a few pages back there is a link to a demo page that I'm assuming meant to show off in-browser decoding, I don't see how to make it work, but that's not the point of this post. Are there any plans to bring the full player functionality of TCPMP to that in-browser plugin? So we can have TCMPM window appear in the webpage instead of quicktime? I soooo wanna replace QT for this. I mean most of what I use QT for is previews in .mpg and .mov and those seem to work fine (minus audio bug I already told picard about) Of course streaming video/audio may need extra coding for the player, which you might be disinclined to do.
Replacing QT completely with TCMPM would be so sweet :)

@ SeeMoreDigital: Great Idea, and I like everyone else's input to this as well. I concur, this would be a great adition to the DSfilter. I only wonder how this type of functionality could be added to the TCPMP player...
@ Picard (or Betaboy, or whoever can fix this): I was messing around with the ActiveX player and found a small bug. One of the JPEG images I tried to view wasn't working - a dialog pops up that says: ! 1196444237 . I click O.K. and it goes away, but I can't see my picture. The picture displays perfectly in "Windows Picture and FAX viewer" though. I'll see if I can upload somewhere if you would like...
By the way, just as a reminder, the ActiveX site crashes my browser every time I close it or go to another page. Please fix this! I don't like my browser crashing.
Good luck with developing,
GhengisKhan

GK... we have replaced the JPEG library with a more compatible universal JPEG library Jory created. Give us about 2 weeks to work on the bugs and we will have something more that will make ppl say ... WOW ;-)
I know I did the first time I had seen it... Oh... the crash bug has been fixed.

Problems are fixed in the latest release for me :)

Hey! Now it tells me progressive JPEG isn't supported yet! Whoohoo! Someone's working... By the way, the crashing has been fixed after I installed the updated player - will it autoupdate itself in the future?
And finally, I noticed that TCPMPx resizes the video when the autohide controls appear. I haven't tested out my widescreen movies yet (it still resized last time I checked though), but do you plan to make it only resize when necessary? That would be nice, that way widescreen movies wouldn't "jitter" when pulling the controls out and then automatically hiding...
It's nice to see progress...
P.S. Betaboy, I said wow when I saw it for the first time too!
P.S.S. Thanks for fixing the IE closing windows bug -now I am brave enough to visit the site more often!

so, filename says ...20060119... does that mean is was updated yesterday, jan 19? and this is not the original release from last week or so?
/edit: so wait is this an in browser player for local files on HDD, or is this like quicktime and WMP for embedded video on webpages? if the later how do I replace QT with this?
BetaBoy
20th January 2006, 14:51
lexor... yes it is newer...for now we allowed the 'open' dialogue on the webpage for demo purposes. Later it is meant for videos embedded into a webpage..... BUT our larger goal of embedding a full media player in a web page is our second phase project.
lexor

so in its current state can it replace QT? or is that part of the second tier project? by replace I mean being able to playback stuff in Apple's Quicktime page (movie previews).
BetaBoy

in its current state.. it could replace QT if you wished.... stability wise... well give us a few more weeks.
BetaBoy

lexor... I should state.... outside of the MAC world.... but that will be changing soon too. Including Linux.

well actually my question is more specific, 'couse I installed this little guy and it works on your sample pages, but QT still loads for movie trailers at apple.com. How do I actually replace QT with this?
p.s. to hell with stability for now, QT ain't a rock either.

Haha, that's right! I think I almost have more problems (worse ones!) with Quicktime than TCPMP. The worst one right now is downloading HD trailers with Quicktime - aargh! It locks up all the time and my cpu goes way high (100%). I think TCPMP is a welcome alternative!
