Hi all

I just got this error 0006, that framcount thing again. I’m trying to back up a music DVD. The last time 3 times that I had this error all were a music DVD???

I did a search and yes I’m using the latest of Fab and of DVD-RB. And is there no other way of fixing this then what Kimagure-No-Ken (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96613&highlight=0006)had said to try?

Thank you

What version of DVD-RB are you using?

You didn't follow a simple request to adhere to the rules, renaming your thread title to be more descriptive. Doing so might encourage more people to read the thread if they think they can help. In addition, you were insulting in your response. You were given a break on the second one, in my opinion, because a Rule 4 violation is a double strike, and you would have been out of here to think it over for 30 days.

You still haven't renamed the thread. You deserved what you got in my opinion. If you feel you've been struck unfairly, you can appeal to Doom9, the final arbiter:

Ok I just figured out how to edit the title. I did not know how to do this at first or that it was possible.

I did not come here for this; all I wanted was some help. A push in the right direction, not a kick out the door.

Thank you for the link.

I've been trying to get a rebuild without that error using DVD-RB (regardless of the encoder used i.e. CCE or HC) for awhile now. Everybody keeps telling me that my system is unstable or that I'm getting bad rips. I even bought a new power supply cuz I thought that might be the problem. Well, what eventually worked for me was dropping back to DVD-RB Pro v1.03 and using CCE v2.67.00.27. Instantly no more dropped frames. I've been unable to get clean a rebuild without dropped frames since v1.04. I have tried uninstalling the programs, then doing Registry clean-ups, then completely formatting my HDD and reinstalling the OS on more than one occasion. I have ripped with DVDFab, DVD Shrink, Nero Recode, DVD Decrypter and all of them with and without several different versions of AnyDVD running in the background. I have run Memory Tests and defragmented hard drives until my eyes fall out of my head, but the only program that refused to run 100% effectively was DVD-RB versions 1.04+. There is something in there that just doesn't like my system and I'm not the only one judging by the increasing number of posts on miscellaneous boards like this one. There is no doubt in my mind that there is some kind of bug in the later versions of DVD-RB. Luckily, 1.03 does the job just as well. I'd try it with a different encoder, but if it ain't broke I ain't fixin' it. You may want to see if J Dobbs will send you one of the old versions.

Just upgraded from v1.03 to v1.06 and encoded a couple of DVDs, neither had any dropped frames. It's looking like it's been fixed. I'll reinstall a newer version of CCE and see what happens tonite.

v1.06 is working flawlessly. Cheers :D

Interesting. I did that disc ("The Cave", NTSC, R1) with no issues at all. What did you use to rip it?

lantern
27th January 2006, 13:22
I tried just rebuilding from the disc with AnyDVD running in the background. When that didn't work, I ripped with DD & AnyDVD. It still didn't work. I ran the latest FixVTS on the ripped files and tried again and it still didn't work. I tried recode and that seems to have worked.

jdobbs
27th January 2006, 13:40
I'll run it again and see if anything has changed. I think I used v1.06 when I did the test encode of that DVD. Hmm... I hope it isn't a bug in the new CCE... I just downloaded that yesterday. I'll use that one when I test also.

lantern
27th January 2006, 13:50
I started trying to backup using DVD-RB 1.06 and CCE 2.70.01.07 and had the same error. Then I checked email and saw that there was a new version of both and installed them. I hoped that the problem would go away. No such luck though.

gobama05
27th January 2006, 15:30
Hmmm, have you tried ripping the disc with DVDFab Decrypter? Give this a try, it has worked for me on some of the more "difficult" discs. Hope this helps

lantern
27th January 2006, 20:34
I am not sure that it is a ripping problem since recode loaded the file alright. I think that if it were a ripping problem recode would have choked also.

jdobbs
27th January 2006, 21:53
Apples and Oranges... you can't make that assumption.

I just noticed something strange. DVD Decrypter over AnyDVD gives a "This is not normal" warning at the end of the disc....

Well I just did an initial test with ReJig to see if anything was noticably abnormal. It went through works fine. I'll run it with CCE Basic now.

Fishman0919
27th January 2006, 22:02
I had the same pb's w/DD and AnyDVD.. but with DVDFab no pb's.

gobama05
27th January 2006, 23:02
Yeah, I normally use DVDFab Decrypter because it works well. If it ain't broke, why fix it? I know it's an old saying, but there's some wisdom in whoever said that :)

jdobbs
27th January 2006, 23:43
@lantern

Ok... I don't know what to tell you. I just:

1. Ripped with DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running. (Got a warning -- continued) (The Cave, NTSC, R1)
2. Set up to use CCE Basic v2.70.01.08
3. Set to Movie and Menus only mode.
4. Ran the entire DVD in One-Click mode.

It completed in 101 minutes. I tested it. Everything is fine.

You have to be leaving something out.... are you doing any preprocessing?

lantern
27th January 2006, 23:46
I did no preprocessing. I will just start from scratch again.

Thanks

[17:42:43] Phase III, REBUILD completed in 16 minutes.

Done.
[17:42:43] PREPARE/ENCODE/REBUILD completed in 101 min.BTW: Is this movie any good? I've had it sitting on my bookshelf since the day it came out... too many movies, too little time. But I just keep buying them... I think I may have an "collectors obsession." :)

The only difference I can see, VTS_09 is missing in lantern's example. And as a result of course slightly different bitrate results.

Hmmm... I forgot that I was doing some tests earlier and had vts_min_size=1 in my INI file.

That was my first thought but then I was wondering if vts_min_size will be ignored in "movie and menu only" mode, as you don't want other stuff in your backup except the movie and the menu?

I haven't watched it yet. I was going to watch it tonight! I hope it isn't crap.
