Hey

I got a problem getting 5.1 ac3 and dts audio when I use digital out (SPDIF) Coax.

It seems Im only getting 2.0 stereo sound when I got a source with 5.1.I have tried with both VLC and WMP.

In powerdvd it seems Im getting 5.1 and dts.

So could this be some codec errors?

When I click on the "use S/PDIF" thing in VLC the sound is horrible like broken...(Hard to explain)

Would be great if someone could help me out here. Thanks

When audio is sent thru SPDIF, is sent as a 2.0-ch stream (that does NOT mean that the audio is downmixed) wich is decoded back into whatever-numer-of-channels-the-audio-has by the receiver.
What decoder and player are u using?

When it comes to playing files using Windows Media Player 9/10, we will need to determine what filters you have installed (and working). What do you see when you click on: Tools -> Options -> DVD (Tab) -> Advanced.
