"video compression error: the source image format is not acceptable (error code -2)"
so this is the message i get when trying to encode with divx5 or divx6, any suggestions, -> i am trying to re-encode a xvid previosly encoded movie, i HAVE the Xvid codec and can easly play any movie. even virtualdubmod itself can play it. if i use xvid - there is no problem, it will re-encode. there is an attachment for more effect .jpg

"Error initializing audio stream compression:
The requested conversion is not possible"
this is the message i get when trying to re-encode any audio stream to AC-3 with any channels more then stereo, I'm sure (very) that the source stream is 5.1 channels. there is also an attachment.

Try GordianKnot instead - it's much simpler to use vs. VirtualDubMod, and the final audio selection will let you keep the audio unchanged.

Unless the source is AC3, it's not likely 5.1 - use GSpot to determine the audio parameters.

Use http://www.imageshack.us for image links so you don't have to wait for moderator approval (and kindly paste the thumbnails, not the full image, for those still on dial-up).

It's simple - just click the Browse button to select an image, then click Host It! The next page gives you links - the moderators prefer that you post the thumbnails and not the full image to keep page loading times to a minimum, such as this:

Just copy and paste the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" link into your message.

How goes your problem with re-encoding a previously encoded XviD file?

Hi!when trying to re-encode any audio stream to AC-3 with any channels more then stereo, I'm sure (very) that the source stream is 5.1 channels.What audio format did you use when you created the original XviD-compressed .AVI?

fuuuihh:) i tried the gordian rope... ups knot:), and i think that it was far more complicated then VDM, OMG, all this tabs, functions ....i felt like Alice in wonderland:) VDM has a lot of options but everything is capsuled into filters, and you dont have to go through all the complicated options if you just want to recompress like in my case...

@setarip_old

unfortenatly, it was not i who encoded the movie the first time, so i have no idea who did what:)... but when i play the movie with some player and go to AC3 properities screen ...IT says with big clear letters ...that the movie is 5.1 chanel, at least THIS i know how to find out :)

nice...:), sorry to disappoint though, but i dont see anything illigal in my reply saying: "i dont know who or what did the encoding" as it is a concert ot Metallica when they came to Bulgaria, Plovdiv... and somebody with a camera made a perfectly good movie.... so pls... i know you have rulez here in this forum, i know that it is not nice to break them... but before accusing someone of pirating and not following rulez...be sure pls :).. now pls remove me from the "pending for punishment" list, becouse it makes me look bad in other member's eyes... as for me pirating... i have nearly 130 movies, and i own every one of it... i can send you photos of my collection

now pls remove me from the "pending for punishment" list There's a formal process for challenging strikes. Please follow it. If you discuss it publically, you forfeit your right to appeal, as clearly described in the forum rules/sanctions pages.

i understand... i should give the rulez more attention from now on. so, the pirat-y...situation, can i consider it over now?

i understand... i should give the rulez more attention from now on. so, the pirat-y...situation, can i consider it over now? If you got strikes, they will expire after 30 days. Since you are posting, you are not suspended. So, as long as no more rule 6 violations occur, everything is cool. Thank you for your understanding.
