Lately I detected some strange things concerning subtitling using 1.05 version of DVD-RB (I know this is NOT the latest !, but should make no difference)

I'm not so sure, but it looks like having this problem since using 2.70.2.4

What's happening:

Subtitling looks ok, generally, however on some ocassions the subtitling shows up with a kind of underlining under the lowest line of the subtitling.

Always this 'underlining' of the last line is flickering even when in PAUSE mode.

It looks like an overclocked video card sometiomes if you know what I mean.

This flickering underlinning is from left to right over the total screen width.

It happens 2 to 5 times per whole DVD.

Playing it in a different playser gives other results.

A different player show the same problem with other subtitles so I dont know what's happening here.

My question:

Has anyone norices, even if just for a second in a whole movie, problems like described with the subtitling ???

Can anybody explain this or give any direction of thought ??

VIDEO and AUDIO are 100% ok, all the time.
No problems there.

Thanx

DVD-RB doesn't modify subtitles. You can either select them or not select them -- and then the output is integrated verbatim into the output stream.

That I was not worrying about DVD-RB

I only noticed it, however on DVD-RW.

Could be read-errors, I don't know.

Could be a defective player (2 ?), I don't know.

Just noticed it, and I was suprised that even in the PAUSE mode,
subtitling had a flickering kind of underline under the last line.

Something like

adjkadkhas asdjkhasjsdh asjksdha ssd ajkdh ahd
..-.-.-.-.-..-.--- ---.-.-.-.-.-.-------- - - - -

Have seen it a kind of 5 times now.....

Just wondering if somebody else had it, that's all.

Are you doing any resizing of the video? Processing it with filters, etc?

Nope, only UNDOT() and CCE's high pass filter at NATURAL setting.

But MIN_BITRATE=0 and VBR_BIAS=0.

That hasn't ever caused problems and the subtitling problem depends on DVD player used (other places, same problem).

When I do A B repeat over the problem area, sometimes no display problems are seen, and sometimes they are there........

And once displayed with faults, pressing pause keep the subtilting 'underlining' flickering even when not reading from DVD at all (that player even stops spinning after a while in pause mode).

It looks if memory is corrupted or something....

Suppose I have to do more testing.
