I would like to start off by saying "I know 4:3 and 16:9 aspect can be combined with multiple VTS"

I'm sorry for that, but else people might react by saying you can only combine these aspect with multiple VTS and that's not what I'm looking for.

I actually read on the Mediachance site that dvd-lab pro has no problem with menus and movies with different aspects to be combined in one VTS, only movies with different ones.

Now my question is, does anybody know how I can make my 4:3 menu (with buttonlinks to a 4:3 movie) chance to 16:9. Ofcourse I need to change the buttons to let them line up correctly. But I would just like to know how to set the menu to 16:9?

anybody got an idea?

I guess so but maybe you'll need to change your menu into a "VMG Menu"

Ok, that could be the limitation, but could it be possible with a normal VTS menu since a VMG menu is not really located in any VTS?

im not sure what you are asking... but first.. as you stated definately 16:9 menu can be used with 4:3 movie, and 4:3 menu can go with 16:9 movie.. that should be allowed by ALL proper dvd compilers... that is very true

now..if i THINK i understand you, you have a 4:3 menu.. why do you want it to be 16:9?..
anyways.. to set that in dvdlab, in the project tree, just right click vts01 (or whatever vts you are working on) and pick vts properties. it will let you set the aspect ratio for the menu there. just pick 16:9 for the menu/slideshow aspect.

But setting it with the VTS properties menu, it will also change the aspectratio of the movies in that VTS and that's something I would like to leave the same.

My goal eventually is to have a 16:9 menu with 4:3 videos. I've been able to accomplish this by using menus from VTS1 (16:9) and use bridges to play a movie from VTS2 (4:3). But somehow after compile it cuts a very small part of the movie (very small). (or is it just my software player?)

I don't think so... (I'm writing from memory, here) if I remember it well (I don't have DVD-Lab on this computer) you have the aspect ratio for menus and a choice like "Same as movie" but it won't change the movie aspect ratio.
When I told you about the VMG I was only covering the possibility that 16:9 menus on a 4:3 movie being out of specs... so some players could have troubles with it... but if it is possible then I think it's alright.

No - if you change setting in VTS properties only menu and slideshows are affected - the aspectratio of the movie is taken from MPEG-header

You're absolutly right, it takes the aspectratio from the flag of the movie, and you can set the aspect of the menus in the VTS properties.

thx for the help of all of you, I think, I can now start making my dvd, thanks
