sorry if this is a newbie problem, but i wasn't aware of this before at all.

i use my notebook as source-player for hdtv-content that i attached through vga to my dlp-tv screen.
i sync with 50hz because at 1280x720 this is the only available refresh rate the graphics card provides.
when i play normal pal dvds everything is fine (they have 25 fps), but as soon as i try to play some avi-files where the frame rate is 23.96 or 24 i get slight frame jumps, about 2 times per second, regardless of which player i am using. it is only visible in constant and smooth camera-pans or with smooth motion, it is not that obvious with static scenes, or when only small parts of the whole image move.
i assume this is because of syncing the 24 fps to 50hz, which doesn't work too well.
is this a common problem or is something weird going on here? when i change the resolution to something lower like 1024x768 i have also 60hz available and the jumping frames are not visible anymore, although i have the impression as if they were still there from time to time.

is there a way to force a movie always play with 25 fps? are there some options i can set with mpc or other players?

any help kindly appreciated!

thanks a lot!

Best choice would be 1280x720 at 60Hz. See if that mode is listed as supported in the TVs manual / specifications and uncheck "Hide modes not supported by display" in display settings which allows choosing higher refresh rates. Sometimes the information coming from the display itself is wrong and some modes are left unsupported in Windows.

reclock did the trick. unfortunately the fu.... graphic card doesn't support 1280x720 at 60hz only 50 is supported, maybe it is turned off in bios or something. i also tried with powerstrip, but it didn't work.
