I Use Handbrake for the Mac but I'm looking for a PC tool that will allow for Baseline AVC encoding on the PC. I'm using TCPMP on my Dell Axim, normally use Xvid or Divx but since the player supports AVC Now thought I'd take advantage of Lower bitrates. Most AVC Encoders only do Mainline encoding. Do any do Baseline Profile?

I think most apps here do mainline and high profil AVC. What does baseline do?

Leaves out some of the more demanding criteria, allows playback on Ipods,PSP's and TCPMP

Well, in RealAnime I have a "low complexity" mode for that. I made it for Pocket PC playback but you encode for almost anything. Jsut use AVISynth to change the FPS and resize for your screen.

MeGUI (which ships with the x264 builds stax linked to), supports all AVC profiles and even AVC levels..

I was mainly looking for suggestions, but I've been told TCPMP now supports mainline profile.

i would say if you want baseline profile you should use megui, as it gives exactly what you want: an option for encoding with baseline profile

Maybe I'm boring, but PSP supports MAIN Profile, until Level 3 (PSP UMD have the resolution of 720x480). OK Sony sucks, but at least PSP is a powerful implimentetion of the AVC standard. Anyway I don't know about AVC baseline profile, X264 doesn't support the error resilence function, but I think that it's not important for you, so try it.

X264 doesn't support the error resilence function, but I think that it's not important for you, so try it.the error resilience focus is part of the extended profile irrc, not baseline
baseline is something like a "poor man's" main profile, like simple profile vs advanced simple profile in mpeg-4.2
