This may be the wrong forum but as I am trying to back this up with DVD Rebuilder I thought I'd ask here. The movie is Zulu Dawn. A quick search on google shows that the original DVD was very poorly transfered. I don't know the correct technical terms for the type of problem and it may be difficult to see from the image but instead of being clean and sharp it as though someone had put a fuzzy filter over the screen. Interestingly ( to me at least) different players handle the movie differently. In a stand alone Pioneer the end of the movie is unwatchable - yet other movies play fine. Liteon gives the best results.

So is it possible to use a filter or filters, matrix ? to make a backup better then the original ? have tried undot, deen, fluxsmooth but without success.

Post a short VOB sample please, use RapidShare.de or similar if you need the upload space.

To my eyes it looks like it's just blurry as hell..

It'll be very hard (if it's even possible) to make anything good out of that. All the details are gone, there's just blocking and blurriness.

Thanks - I will jusy have to hope that one day they do the job properly.
Most of the movie is fine. But this scene towards the end is at night with fires and smoke. To make it worse some of the material is deliberately out of focus.

thanks again
