Depending on your system and what encoder your using...it should be fine. Just be aware that CCE loves memory and CPU time...so if your gonna do other things...it might be benificial to set the priority to below normal

im using cce .
my system is :
radeon 800xl pro
1g ddr
p4 3.00ghz

is it enough for doing other things - im not talking about running games.

You should be ok as long as you're careful. CCE's status screen has a nasty habit of popping up during encodes even when it is told to minimize -- and hitting a key at the moment it appears might accidentally make it "cancel" unintentionally. That could cause a "missing frames" error.

quality wont be affected , but you computer will be slow.

im currently running a long encode on my p3 1ghz.. about 24hours in and i am posting now so internet and email work :)

I don't have much trouble doing things like surfing the 'net while DVD-RB is running. I do have two icons for DVD-RB though in case I think I'll be doing some more intensive work while a re-encode is running. One of those icons starts a batch file that launches DVD-RB in low-priority mode.

My PC has an AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 1.5gb RAM.

Yes, be careful. I run dual PIII's (1 ghz). Primitive, yes, but they work OK in a multi tasking mode until I try to run other program(s) that are even moderately CPU intensive - then I start to notice some freezing, and occasionally, I have had it crash. I now turn on task manager to watch the CPU usage while I'm working. If I start to see too much demand, I'll just walk away and leave it be. Overnight uninterrupted encoding is always best. Browsing and other minor stuff isn't usually a problem.

Something I always use is missed here, besides JDOBBS correct note about the annoying pop-up window of CCE, and that's:

Starting DVD-RB with a batch file, looking something like:

START /LOW REBUILDER.EXE

Place this in a .BAT file and make a shortcut to it. Use DVD-RB dir als default.

This causes DVD-RB and CCE BOTH running in low-priority mode and keeps youre computer responsive even while it will consumes almost 100% cpu when CCE is running.

All others processes have normal or higher priotity and will 'steal' cpu away from CCE as they need it.

Youre computer will be almost as responsive as usual (if you have enough memory) and you can do HEAVY TASKS besides encoding at low level priority.

Cpu power is assigned yo youre current task first, and what's left goes to CCE. It never causes a hangup, even not when using DVDSHRINK for other tasks. But in DVDSHRINK you have to set running in low priority off, or both CCE and DVDSHRINK are gonna compete for CPU.

JDOBBS already loves my enhanchement requests :D , so this one is added:

Native support in DVD-RB for letting it run in low-priority :o

the bottom line is if the pc run with other apps fine then i wont have a quality problems , right ? because eventualy this is the purpose of using dvd-rb . if there is a slight chance of quality damage i wont run other things.

Be sure to run it in a lower priority or everything else will lag since CCE is CPU-intensive. And to answer again, the quality isn't affected by other things, only the time to encode is (if you're stealing CPU cycles from CCE)
