I apologize - I have searched teh threads, links etc and think my main confustion is over the

1. New presets in x264
2. Integration wtih megui
3. the "no brainer" mode that USED to be in teh megui package but NOT in teh "FULL INSTALL" x264 from a few days ago

Basically is there a nice link describing how to configure (and which MEGUI to use) to have "one click" encoding of both VIDEO/AUDIO from a single source (like TS or MPG) into AVC/AAC Mp4?

StatRIP seems to do this also but it I really like all the "presets" in the new x264 build and megui. UNfortunately I can get a good AVISynth script made from using the one generated with autogk but then get stuck how to get the ac3 to aac and mux.

Again, My old old version of megui did this in one shot - does this still exist?

One Click Encoder is still there in the latest released version of MeGUI - 0.2.3.1035 on Sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=156112&package_id=174059&release_id=383360). In fact it never went away. Exactly what problem are you having?

The One Click Encoder has been redesigned recently, to make it (IMO) simpler to use. If you REALLY want a no-brainer, use only the basic tab. If not, the Advanced tab offers more control.

It still contains the same stuff as before, but adds AVS Profile (if you aren't sure what to do with them, you can experiment with the AviSynth Script Creator, or you can just stick to the Default Profile), an automatic deinterlacing checkbox (this does nothing at the moment), and a "Playback method" dropdown, which is just a Profile for OneClick (configure it using MeGUI->Tools->Configure One Click Profiles). You can safely ignore this, but it can be easier if you want to keep the same settings for each encoode if you make use of this.

Finally, there is the option in the target size to select 'Don't Care' which means MeGUI won't adjust the bitrate to reach your target. This allows you to use the bitrate you set in the profile, and it also allows you to use CRF and CQ modes.
