I've searched around on this topic, and it seems that TIVTC is faster than Decomb, handles hybrid content better than Decomb, handles orphan fields better than Decomb, and handles anime better than Decomb. Leak says that TIVTC improves on Decomb's algorithm a lot (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=577450#post577450).

Is there any reason to use Decomb as opposed to TIVTC? If so, what?
Do many people use Decomb simply because it is a solution that has been around for a long time?

I personaly use TIVTC because of the multitude of options and adjustments that can be made to ensure that the IVTC'ing is done well.

Decomb may still be used because for most people it works quite well, and because it has less adjustments to make and therefore may not confuse people as much.

And like you mentioned previously, people are naturally afraid of what they don't understand, so they try to make do with what they know. Most people here are familiar with and understand Decomb, and with TIVTC being as complex as it is, I can understand why they've yet to switch.

The thing is that Decomb gives a step and step manual while TIVTC just list the various options and its modes.
