All our High Definition DVD titles are encoded in native 720P format and offers great enhancement in the visual video quality. It is the great show case to see what is the real "high definition".
NeoDigits.com (http://www.neodigits.com/body/product/dvdtitle/hvds.asp) $18 a piece
i`d like to know if anyone tried this disks (on pc dvd) ....
is it real 720p ? is it playable on standard DVD players (with loose standards) ?
is it rip-able ?
[edit]
this would be great source for CODEC testing :D

And the next line down on their page says
Please notice: All our High Definition DVD titles will ONLY be played by our HDV108 and HVD208/2081/2085 HD DVD Players.
Even with "loose" standards no SD-DVD player will display them properly. Standard definition players all use 480 or 576 lines, the same as the television used to watch them.

These Discs are encrypted (China HVD-Discs), and the encryption methode isn't hacked yet.
Encoding format is 960x720 anamorphic MPEG2, encoder is TMPGEnc 2.5x.

Just get some PAL movie DVDs. They are all 720*576 @ 25 Hz progressive. Almost 720p ;)

Hardly. Only 60% of the resolution of these HVD discs.

Indeed, it's odd that these discs are 960x720 when I'm sure the 720p standard is 1280x720...

As my old boss used to say "Standards? We got lots of standards, pick one". Everyone is free to pick their own.
And while we all think of 720x480 as SDTV, or at least SD DVD, broadcasters can and do use 540x480
