Need a bit of advice

What I'm trying to do is burn a few episodes of some anime shows that I downloaded. Thing is I have no idea of what type of software I have to use to do so. I downloaded them from an torrent site and want to put them on dvd to get them off one of my harddrives. I tried using nero 6 and 7 but for some reason once finished my dvd player won't reconize the disc and also some crazy looking files show up once I put the disc back in pc drive. So I'm asking if anyone knows what to use in order for me to do so.
