greetings, my first post and I would like to ask if you can point me to
a how-to article where I could process 1 MPEG and 1 AVI clip into 1 DVD...
I am familiar with VirtualDub and IfoEdit as well as TMPGEnc what other
softwares do I need to be able to do this?
Thanks!

First let me ask you, do you just want to put a
.mpg (or .mpeg)
and an
.avi
file on a
DVD -R medium ? (or DVD +R, doesnt matter)
Or do you want a DVD structure complete with .vob objects, .ifo files, VIDEO_TS folder etc like
a typical Video DVD also has? (Here I mean DVDs you buy, like "Kill Bill 1", "The Matrix" and so on)
Because if you just want to use the DVD as archival its as easy as drag and drop (well on windows at least :-)

I want it in DVD video format/structure which is playable on standalone DVD players
I was able to convert both files but can't figure out how I can put them
together so that I can have one (1) VIDEO_TS folder with both the videos and make
a menu so that I can select which one I want to play.
AVI --> m2v+wav (using TMPGEnc) --> VIDEO_TS (.vob,.ifo) using IfoEdit
MPEG --> m2v+wav --> VIDEO_TS (.vob,.ifo)
then combine the two so that there's only one (1) VIDEO_TS folder with both
the videos in it.
Thanks! :-)
Because if you just want to use the DVD as archival its as easy as drag and drop (well on windows at least :-)

yes I know :-) does cdr-tools now support DVD burning? it's been a long time
since I've used linux-based distros, although I do have one system I made from
scratch using CoreLinux as a base. ;-)

Hi!
Make a separate VIDEO_TS folder for each converted video. Then use (commercial software) "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to load them as separate TITLES (Use "Add track") under one menu. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

Thank you sir, I will try your suggestion...are there any other software
which could do the task besides TMPGEnc DVD Author?
Thanks for all the help! :-)

I will try your suggestion...Let us know how it goes
are there any other software which could do the task besides TMPGEnc DVD Author?Undoubtedly many more. But I believe that for what you've described, you'll find "TMPGEnc DVD Author" ideally suited to the task (and extremely easy to use, including creating menus and chaptering, if you like)...
